Up:

Manuel Margot, CF: May 2 Initially, it appeared that the Padres were going to have Manuel Margot and Travis Jankowski platoon in the leadoff and #2 spots, with Jankowski leading off against RHP and Margot batting second, while Margot would take over #1 with Jankowski moving to #2 against LHP. However, when Margot got off to a hot start and Jankowski didn’t, Margot began to see action at leadoff against all pitchers and that’s the way it’s stayed to date. Margot is now hitting .265 with 3 HRs and 9 RBIs. In addition, he’s scored 15 Runs and stolen 4 bases.

Erick Aybar, SS: May 2 – After being signed to a minor league contract in early February and then outdueling Luis Sardinas for the starting SS role in spring training, Erick Aybar has advanced his cause quite a bit during the early going. Not only has he started in 26 of the team’s 28 games at SS but he’s put up some respectable offensive number as well (other than his .212 Batting Average). In 97 PA, he’s hit 2 HRs, driven in 6 and scored 9 Runs. He also has 3 SBs. As a result, he’s been seeing a fair bit of time in the #2 spot in the batting order, starting 6 of the past 11 games there after starting the year in either the #7 spot or the #8 spot for the most part. For now, at least, he seems to be sharing #2 with Cory Spangenberg.

Cory Spangenberg, OF, 3B, 2B: May 2 – Since being called up on April 25, Cory Spangenberg has started 5 of the Padres’ 7 games, including 3 of the last 4 in LF. He appears to have supplanted Jabari Blash as the main contributor in LF during the absence of Travis Jankowski to injury and has started 4 of the last 7 games in the #2 slot in the batting order.

Down:

Travis Jankowski, LF: May 2 – Even before his injury on April 25, Travis Jankowski had seen his value decline. Instead of batting first or second as originally intended, he’s seen most of his recent action from the bottom of the batting order. In 3 of the last 6 games prior to his injury, he was assigned to the #8 slot in the batting order and in 1 other game he actually batted ninth. He was hitting .160 with 0 HR, 0 RBIs and only 7 Runs scored at the time he was placed on the DL.

Jabari Blash, OF: May 2 – When Travis Jankowski was first injured, it looked like Jabari Blash was going to get the first chance to replace him in LF. However, Blash is hitting only .087 with 1 HR and 1 RBI in 31 PA and appears to have been surpassed by Cory Spangenberg and, possibly, Alan Cordoba in the LF depth chart.  He’s started 6 games in LF in total and 1 in RF but, after opening with 3 games in a row in LF after Jankowski’s injury, he’s only started 1 of the last 5 games in LF.

In:

Jabari Blash, OF: Apr 24 – 6:57 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled OF Jabari Blash from Triple-A El Paso.

Blash is taking Travis Jankowski’s (foot) spot on the roster and should take his spot as the regular LF, too. He’s managed just a .152/.287/.291 batting line in 94 plate appearances in the majors so far but does have big raw power.

Apr 14 – 3:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres optioned OF Jabari Blash to Triple-A Reno.

The Padres should be able to carve out a role for Blash against LHPs but carrying two Rule 5 players on their bench really limits their platoon options. Blash was 0-for-8 in his week with the club while replacing Hector Sanchez who was on the 7-day concussion DL.

Apr 7 – 3:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres purchased the contract of OF Jabari Blash from Triple-A El Paso.

Blash slugged seven homers this spring but the Padres decided against adding him to the 40-man roster. He’s on it now and should see some starts versus LHPs, although he could be up for just a week or so as he’s replacing Hector Sanchez who’s on the 7-day concussion DL.

Trevor Cahill, SP: Apr 16 – 10:54 AM (Rotoworld) — Padres activated RHP Trevor Cahill from the 10-day disabled list.

It was a minimum stay on the DL for Cahill, who missed just one turn with a lower back issue. He’ll start today against the Braves.

RP Kevin Quackenbush has been sent to the minors.

Apr 14 – 10:22 AM (San Diego Union-Tribune/Rotoworld) — Trevor Cahill (back) is on track to return on Sunday, April 16, versus the Braves.

He will have missed the minimum amount of time on the disabled list with a lower back strain. Cahill pitched well against the Dodgers in his first outing of the year.

Apr 9 – 3:32 PM (MLB.com/Rotoworld) — Padres placed RHP Trevor Cahill on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain, retroactive to April 6.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred. Cahill allowed three runs — two earned — on five hits with seven strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings against the Dodgers last Wednesday, April 5, in his first start. A timetable for his return isn’t known. Zach Lee has replaced Cahill on the roster and could replace him in the rotation, as well. Jarred Cosart is also an option.

Luis Perdomo, SP: Apr 23 – 2:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres activated RHP Luis Perdomo from the 10-day disabled list.

Perdomo will start today versus the Marlins. He had been nursing some shoulder inflammation.

Zach Lee will be returned to the minors to make way for Perdomo.

Apr 20 – 7:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Luis Perdomo (shoulder) will start on Sunday, April 23, against the Marlins.

The Padres will wait until Sunday to activated him from the disabled list. Perdomo left his season debut with shoulder inflammation but looked sharp during Wednesday’s 50-pitch bullpen session. His return will bump Jarred Cosart from the starting rotation.

Apr 19 – 8:34 PM (San Diego Union-Tribune/Rotoworld) — Luis Perdomo (shoulder) threw a 50-pitch bullpen session today.

Padres manager Andy Green said that so long as Perdomo checks out fine following his bullpen work, the team is leaning toward starting him in place of the injured Jarred Cosart (hamstring) this coming Sunday, April 23, against the Marlins. The 23-year-old RHP is making his way back from posterior inflammation in his right shoulder after hitting the 10-day disabled list on April 11.

Apr 11 – 11:30 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed RHP Luis Perdomo on the 10-day disabled list with posterior shoulder inflammation.

Perdomo was due to start for the Padres tomorrow at Coors Field but he came down with some shoulder discomfort this week following a rough regular-season debut last Friday, April 15, versus the Giants. Jake Esch or Zach Lee will now take the hill on Wednesday for San Diego. Esch was called up to take Perdomo’s roster spot.

Hector Sanchez, C: Apr 14 – 3:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres activated C Hector Sanchez from the seven-day concussion disabled list.

Sanchez will share backup reps with Luis Torrens behind Austin Hedges and serve as a pinch-hitter. Jabari Blash has been sent back to the minors in a corresponding move.

Apr 7 – 3:32 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed C Hector Sanchez on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Sanchez left yesterday’s game versus the Dodgers due to dizziness and apparently didn’t pass the concussion protocol. He has a history of concussions, which makes the situation a bit scary. Luis Torrens will now be Austin Hedges’ main backup at C, although P/C hybrid Christian Bethancourt is also on the roster.

Jabari Blash was called up to take his roster spot.

Apr 6 – 6:39 PM (Rotoworld) — Hector Sanchez left today’s game against the Dodgers with dizziness.

The Padres originally called his exit precautionary but now Sanchez is being treated for concussion-like symptoms. Obviously, there was no reason to keep him in the game with the Padres getting blown out. Luis Torrens took Sanchez’s place behind the plate in the seventh inning. Sanchez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before exiting. Consider him day-to-day.

Cory Spangenberg, 2B, OF, 3B: Apr 25 – 5:36 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled IF/OF Cory Spangenberg from Triple-A El Paso.

Spangenberg failed to make the Padres’ Opening Day roster out of camp but he’ll get the call now after batting .348/.403/.470 with 1 HR and 3 SB over 17 games at Triple-A. The former first-round pick could see semi-regular playing time in San Diego.

C/RP Christian Bethancourt was sent to the minors to make room for Spangenberg.

Kirby Yates, RP: Apr 26 – 3:05 PM (MLB.com) — Padres claimed RHP Kirby Yates off waivers from the Angels.

Yates was designated for assignment by the Angels on Sunday, April 23, after allowing two runs the day before in a one-inning relief appearance. It was his only appearance at the major league level so far in 2017.

Kevin Quackenbush was demoted to make room for Yates on the team’s big league roster.

Out:

Travis Jankowski, OF: Apr 27 – 9:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Travis Jankowski may have a hairline fracture in his injured foot.

Jankowski was placed on the DL with a bruised right foot earlier this week. Even if Jankowski does have a hairline fracture, it won’t alter his rehab plans. He’ll be in a walking boot for at least another week and remains out indefinitely.

Apr 24 – 6:55 PM (MLB.com/Rotoworld) — Padres placed OF Travis Jankowski on the 10-day disabled list with a right foot bone bruise.

It’s unclear at this point how much time Jankowski might miss. Jabari Blash has replaced him on the roster and should be the new regular LF.

The 25-year-old Jankowski fouled a ball off his foot on April 14 against the Braves in Atlanta and has been hobbling since then.

Alex Dickerson, OF: Apr 27 – 10:37 PM (Rotoworld) — Alex Dickerson (back) is expected to resume baseball activities within the next week.

Dickerson has been hampered by a bulging disc in his back but has made progress in recent weeks. He’s stayed in shape by doing cardio and some light weight lifting and will soon add baseball activities to his regimen. Dickerson is on the 60-day DL, so we won’t see him in San Diego until June at the earliest.

Apr 7 – 3:35 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres transferred OF Alex Dickerson from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Jabari Blash. Dickerson has a bulging disc in his back and will now be out until at least June.

Apr 2 – 2:46 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed OF Alex Dickerson on the 10-day disabled list with a bulging disc in his back.

He’ll likely miss most, if not all, of April. Travis Jankowski will handle LF while Dickerson is sidelined.

Mar 16 – 12:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Alex Dickerson has been diagnosed with a disc protrusion in his back and will be sidelined for the next 3-4 weeks.

Dickerson won’t need surgery but he can obviously now be ruled out for the first couple weeks of the 2017 regular season. He entered spring training with good odds of claiming a share of the Padres’ starting LF job. Travis Jankowski and Jabari Blash will likely work in a platoon there to open the year.

Mar 13 – 12:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Alex Dickerson has experienced a setback in his recovery from a back injury.

Dickerson made his Cactus League debut this weekend but it apparently did not go totally smoothly. His status for Opening Day is now in question. Look for a fresh update on in a day or two.

Christian Friedrich, RP: Apr 7 – 3:47 PM (Rotoworld) — An MRI on Christian Friedrich’s left elbow came back negative.

Friedrich went on the disabled list with a strained lat but has felt soreness in his elbow recently. However, he doesn’t have anything wrong structurally and will head to the Padres’ spring training complex on Sunday, April 9, to begin his rehab.

Apr 5 – 9:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres manager Andy Green said that Christian Friedrich (lat) has been experiencing tenderness in his left elbow and will receive a medical examination.

Friedrich was shut down near the end of spring training with what was termed as a strained left lat. Elbow tenderness could be a sign of something more serious, though. His check-up with the doctors should shed more light on the extent of his injury and a possible timetable for his return.

Apr 2 – 2:48 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed LHP Christian Friedrich on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left lat.

He’s been dealing with the injury for a few weeks. It’s unclear how long Friedrich will be on the shelf.

Mar 24 – 12:58 PM  (Rotoworld) — Christian Friedrich will open the season on the disabled list after being diagnosed with a strained left lat.

Friedrich hadn’t pitched in a week due to the ailment. He’ll be shut down for 1-2 weeks and it’s unclear at this point how long he’ll be sidelined. His absence should give a guy like Trevor Cahill a better shot at a rotation spot.

Mar 19 – 1:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Christian Friedrich was scratched from a scheduled bullpen session today due to general soreness in his pitching arm.

It doesn’t get any more vague than that. Without more details, it’s impossible to project how long this might sideline the LHP. Perhaps the Padres will offer up more details on Friedrich later today.

Robbie Erlin, SP: Mar 30 – 12:55 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed LHP Robbie Erlin on the 60-day disabled list with a left elbow injury.

Erlin underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last May. He should become an option for the Padres around the middle of the 2017 regular season.

Mar 12 – 1:06 PM (Rotoworld) — Robbie Erlin (elbow) has started to throw off a mound at 45 feet.

It’s a big step as the LHP works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Erlin is hoping to be an option for the Padres around mid-season.

Feb 27 – 4:29 PM (Padres.mlb.com/Rotoworld) — Robbie Erlin (elbow) is hoping to return around mid-season.

Erlin underwent Tommy John surgery last May. He’s been taking part in fielding and bunting practice and hopes to begin throwing off a mound before the end of spring training.

“I don’t think there’s really like a set date,” Erlin said. “We kind of stay away from that so you don’t get too jumpy. We just go based on feel. Right now, late June or early July is kind of what we’re eyeballing, if everything goes well.”

Carter Capps, RP: Apr 28 – 11:12 AM (San Diego Union-Tribune/Rotoworld) — Carter Capps (elbow) allowed five runs on three hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning in his last rehab appearance with Triple-A El Paso yesterday.

Capps has been hit-or-miss on his rehab assignment to say the least, tossing five no-hit innings over five appearances but allowing a whopping nine runs over his other two games. It’s not terribly surprising, as command can waver for a guy making his way back from Tommy John surgery. Capps should be activated pretty soon, but his inconsistency combined with Brandon Maurer’s nice start should make fantasy owners pump the brakes on Capps taking over the Padres’ closer job anytime soon.

Apr 19 – 12:36 AM (Rotoworld) — Carter Capps (elbow) struck out a batter in a scoreless inning last night with Triple-A El Paso.

A huge improvement over his last rehab outing on Sunday, when he was charged with four earned runs while recording only two outs. Capps could be nearing a return to the Padres and might be able to work his way into save opportunities quickly if he comes out of the gate pitching like he did yesterday at Triple-A. The hop-stepping RHP underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last March.

Apr 8 – 7:25 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres manager Andy Green said Carter Capps (elbow) looked “very good” while throwing a live batting practice today.

He’s expected to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, April 11. Capps is now 13 months removed from Tommy John surgery. Barring a setback, he’ll be back in the Padres’ pen later in April.

Apr 4 – 7:56 PM (Rotoworld) — Carter Capps (elbow) threw a 21-pitch simulated inning on today at Dodger Stadium.

He then threw a few more pitches in the visitor’s bullpen to complete the workout. Capps will likely do one more simulated appearance before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. He should be ready to join the Padres’ bullpen around mid-to-late April and the hop-stepping RHP could eventually factor into the ninth-inning mix if his stuff is right. He underwent Tommy John surgery last March.

Apr 2 – 2:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres placed RHP Carter Capps on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

Capps isn’t quite ready yet as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing RP should join the Padres’ bullpen before too long and he might eventually be an option to serve as Closer.

Mar 30 – 5:45 PM (Rotoworld) — Carter Capps (elbow) will pitch a couple of simulated innings next week.

Capps struck out two in a scoreless inning today against the Rockies, topping out at 95 mph. If his simulated work goes well next week, he’ll begin a rehab assignment shortly afterwards. He’s on track to return to the Padres by mid-April.

Mar 29 – 1:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Carter Capps (elbow) will begin the season on the 10-day disabled list.

Capps is making his way back from Tommy John surgery and was shaky in his Cactus League debut on Monday, March 27, so it doesn’t make sense to push things. He could be ready relatively soon.

Jarred Cosart, SP, RP: May 2 – 11:31 PM (Rotoworld) — Jarred Cosart (hamstring) threw two scoreless innings today for High-A Lake Elsinore.

Cosart allowed two hits and a walk but no major damage. The RHP looks poised to return to a bullpen role with San Diego, possibly by May 5.

Apr 28 – 11:15 AM (San Diego Union-Tribune/Rotoworld) — Jarred Cosart (hamstring) will throw another bullpen session this weekend.

If it goes well, the Padres could decide to activate him in a day or two. With Luis Perdomo back, Cosart seems likely to head back to the bullpen once activated.

Apr 19 – 5:59 (Rotoworld) — Padres placed RHP Jarred Cosart on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Cosart strained his right hamstring in yesterday’s game against the Diamondbacks. There is no current timetable for his recovery. The Padres have yet to announce who will take Cosart’s place in the rotation.

Apr 18 – 11:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Jarred Cosart suffered a right hamstring strain in his start tonight against the Diamondbacks.

Cosart allowed three runs — one earned — over 3 2/3 innings before exiting. The RHP is probably headed for the 10-day disabled list.

Apr 9 – 8:29 PM (Rotoworld) — Jarred Cosart will start for the Padres on Monday in place of the injured Trevor Cahill.

Zach Lee, SP, RP: Apr 23 – 2:09 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres optioned RHP Zach Lee to Triple-A El Paso.

Lee was surprisingly effective in a spot start in Colorado earlier this month but was then roughed up in two relief outings. He’ll rejoin El Paso’s rotation.

His demotion makes way for the return of Luis Perdemo from the DL.

Apr 9 – 3:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled RHP Zach Lee from Triple-A El Paso.

He could replace Trevor Cahill (back) in the rotation, although Jarred Cosart is also an option. Cahill is on the DL with a lower back strain, retroactive to April 6, and may not miss more than 1 turn in the rotation. A former top prospect, Lee held a 6.14 ERA over 27 starts at the Triple-A level last season. However, he’s just 25.

Jake Esch, RP: Apr 14 – 3:47 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres optioned RHP Jake Esch to Triple-A El Paso.

Esch walked both batters he faced in his lone appearance for the Padres. Kevin Quackenbush has been called up to take his spot.

Apr 11 – 11:32 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled RHP Jake Esch from Double-A San Antonio.

Esch was claimed off waivers from the Marlins at the end of spring training and could now be thrust into the Padres’ starting rotation with Luis Perdomo hitting the disabled list today because of posterior shoulder discomfort. Esch, 27, allowed eight earned runs over 13 innings (three starts) last season with Miami.

Kevin Quackenbush, RP: Apr 26 – 7:28 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres optioned RHP Kevin Quackenbush to Triple-A El Paso.

The Padres had to send someone down after claiming Kirby Yates off waivers from the Angels. The RHP has hurled five scoreless innings in the big leagues this year. Quackenbush should be back up the next time the bullpen needs a fresh arm.

Apr 19 – 6:03 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled RHP Kevin Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso.

Quackenbush turned in a scoreless inning for the big league club earlier this month before being shuttled down to Triple-A. He’s back up to the Padres now, however, where he’ll work in middle relief. The 28-year-old RHP posted a 3.92 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 59 2/3 innings during the 2016 season. Jarrod Cosart was placed on the DL in a corresponding move.

Apr 16 – 10:52 AM (Rotoworld) — Padres optioned RHP Kevin Quackenbush to Triple-A El Paso.

Quackenbush made one scoreless appearance in his brief time with the big club. He’ll get another shot eventually. His demotion allows Trevor Cahill to come off the DL.

Apr 14 – 3:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres recalled RHP Kevin Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso.

Quackenbush isn’t thought of as highly by the Padres these days but he’s still a decent enough option as the fourth or fifth RHP in a team’s pen.

Jake Esch has been sent to the minors.

Christian Bethancourt, C, RP: Apr 25 – 5:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Padres sent RHP/C Christian Bethancourt outright to Triple-A El Paso.

Bethancourt had allowed nine runs — six earned — in 3 2/3 innings this season out of the San Diego bullpen. He was also 1-for-7 with three strikeouts as a hitter.

Cory Spangenberg was called up to take Bethancourt’s place on the Padres’ rost

Up:

Adam Frazier, IF, OF: April 30 – Adam Frazier is not a regular in the Pirates’ lineup but he was putting pressure on some of the starters before his April 23 injury. He had started in 11 of the team’s 18 games to that point including 5 in the OF, 3 at 2B and 1 each at DH, SS and 3B. It will be interesting to see how the Pirates use him when he returns to action in a few days, especially given Starling Marte’s recent suspension and David Freese’s absence due to a strained hamstring. Frazier could see a fair bit of time in both LF and 3B. If he can maintain his .306 Batting Average, he could make an impact.

John Jaso, 1B, OF: April 30 — With Starling Marte suspended on April 18 and Adam Frazier sent to the DL on April 23, John Jaso and Jose Osuna have been splitting the RF duties while Andrew McCutcheon patrols CF. So far, they’ve started there 5 times each although Jaso has been starting against RHP. He also has 2 starts at 1B.

Jose Osuna, OF, 1B: April 30 — With Starling Marte suspended on April 18 and Adam Frazier sent to the DL on April 23, Jose Osuna and John Jaso have shared RF duties while Andrew McCutcheon patrols CF. So far, they’ve started there 5 times each although Osuna has been starting against LHP only.

Josh Bell, 1B: April 30 – Since the suspension of Starling Marte, three Pirates – Josh Bell, Jody Mercer and Josh Harrison –  have been covering his #2 spot in the batting order. However, Bell has been starting against RHP and, thus, has probably gained a little bit of value. Prior to that, he had primarily seen action toward the bottom of the batting order (although he had also started 2 games at #2 and 3 at #5.

Josh Harrison, 2B, OF: April 30 – In 100 of the last 11 games, Josh Harrison has hit at the top of the order, with 4 at #2 and 6 at #1 (including the last 5 in a row). Whether he stays there when Adam Frazier returns in a few days is anyone’s guess.

Francisco Cervelli, C: April 30 – With David Freese on the DL since April 25, Francisco Cervelli has moved up from his normal $6 slot to see more action at #5. He’s started 4 of the past 5 games there, in addition to 2 games there earlier in the year.

Felipe Rivero, Setup, RP: April 30 – Felipe Rivero appears to be moving up on the Pirates’ bullpen depth chart and for all intents and purposes is sharing Setup duties with Daniel Hudson. And although they both have 7 Holds, Rivero’s stat line is much better than Hudson’s. Rivero has allowed only 1 Earned Run in 14.7 Innings for an 0.61 ERA. He also has a 1.02 WHIP, along with 13 Ks and a 4.33 K/BB ratio.

Down:

Gregory Polanco, OF: April 30 – Gregory Polanco has dropped a bit in value thanks to a slow start to the season and a sore right groin that limited his appearances for almost a week and forced him to miss 3 starts. Prior to Starling Marte’s suspension, Polanco had started only 9 of the team’s 15 games. However, he’s started every game since Marte was forced out for 80 games.

Perhaps surprisingly, though, he’s still batting cleanup despite hitting only .247 with 0 HRs, just 4 RBI and a .338 Slugging Percentage.

Daniel Hudson, Setup, RP: April 30 – It looks like Daniel Hudson will soon lose the Setup role to Felipe Rivero. They both have 7 Holds but Hudson has a 9.90 ERA and a 2.000 WHIP. His others stats aren’t too bad, however, as he’s struck out 10 batters in 10 Innings and compiled a 3.33 K/BB ratio.

In:

Jose Osuna, OF, 1B: Apr 18 – 4:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates recalled 1B/OF Jose Osuna from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Starling Marte got hit with an 80-game PED suspension on Tuesday, so Osuna gets the call to help out in LF. He can also play some 1B.

Johnny Barbato, RP: Apr 25 – 3:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates recalled RHP Johnny Barbato from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Barbato was just acquired from the Yankees last week and will replace Antonio Bastardo (quad) in the Pirates’ bullpen. The 24-year-old had a rough 7.62 ERA in 13 appearances with the Yankees last season and figures to operate in middle relief.

Gift Ngoepe, IF: Apr 26 – 3:32 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates recalled IF Gift Ngoepe from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Ngoepe is the first African-born player to make it to the major league level. The 27-year-old was batting just .241/.308/.379 in 66 plate appearances this season at Triple-A and holds no fantasy relevance.

He’s taking the roster spot of RHP Dovydas Neverauskas who has been sent back down to the minors. Neverauskas was taking the place of the injured Adam Frazier.

John Bormann, C: Apr 30 – 1:22 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates purchased the contract of C John Bormann from High-A Bradenton.

The 24-year-old is jumping three levels to the majors to serve as the Pirates’ third catcher. Bormann, 24, has hit just .232/.282/.310 in the minors but he has a good glove. The addition of Bormann suggests that Francisco Cervelli might not be healthy. Cervelli is not playing Sunday.

Out:

Starling Marte, OF: Apr 18 – 2:53 PM (Rotoworld) — MLB announced today that Starling Marte has been suspended 80 games for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Marte tested positive for Nandrolone. It’s a shocker for Pittsburgh, who is 6-7 to begin the season. The 28-year-old Marte was batting .241/.288/.370 with two homers and two steals over 13 games to begin the year. Andrew McCutchen figures to return to center field while Marte is away. The suspension could open the door for top prospect Austin Meadows to be called up but Adam Frazier will likely take on a everyday role in the short-term.

David Freese, 3B, 1B: Apr 29 – 7:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates placed 3B David Freese on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 25, with a strained right hamstring.

Freese hasn’t played since straining his hamstring in the April 24 game against the Cubs. The Pirates finally realized his leg wasn’t healing fast enough to avoid placing him on the DL. Freese has been one of the club’s best hitters in the early going, batting .321/.418/.536 with three home runs and 10 RBI. Outfielder Danny Ortiz was called up from Triple-A to take Freese’s place on the roster.

Apr 28 – 3:26 PM (Rotoworld) — David Freese (hamstring) remained out of the Pirates’ lineup today.

Freese still felt something in his right hamstring while taking swings in the cage earlier today. He hasn’t played since Monday, April 24. The disabled list will be in play if Freese doesn’t improve in a hurry but the Pirates are still listing him as day-to-day for now and he’ll try to field some grounders in today’s pre-game. Josh Harrison is at 3B and Gift Ngoepe at 2B.

Apr 25 – 10:07 PM (Rotoworld) — David Freese was unavailable today due to right hamstring soreness.

Josh Harrison drew the start at 3B against the Cubs, with Alen Hanson starting at 2B. This could be a multi-day absence for Freese, who’s off to a great start offensively in 2017.

Jung Ho Kang, 3B: Apr 17 – 8:46 PM (Yonhap News/Rotoworld) — Yonhap News reports that Jung Ho Kang’s appeals hearing has been set for May 25.

Kang previously received an eight-month term for his third DUI arrest, although the sentence was suspended for two years. The Pirates IF was denied a United States work visa last month but has been training on his own in his native South Korea and hopes to eventually obtain a visa. His status is obviously very much up in the air.

Mar 24 – 8:42 AM (Rotoworld) — According to reports out of Korea, Jung Ho Kang has been denied a work visa to enter the United States.

The report also states that there is suspicion Kang was convicted of drunk driving in a third country other than Korea and the United States. Kang was given an eight-month suspended sentence earlier this month as a result of his third DUI arrest in Korea. With this latest news, Kang’s chances of playing for the Pirates this season are “cloudy.” The Pirates should have an update on the 3B later today. David Freese will be the club’s regular at the hot corner for as long as Kang is away.

Adam Frazier, IF, OF: Apr 26 – 10:48 PM (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette/Rotoworld) — Adam Frazier (hamstring) received a platelet rich plasma injection on Monday, April 24.

That was the day he was placed on the disabled list with a strained hamstring. Frazier has already shown improvement and will be re-evaluated on Friday, April 28. The Pirates could certainly use him as they scramble to replace Starling Marte, who is serving an 80-game suspension for PEDs.

Apr 24 – 7:00 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates placed IF/OF Adam Frazier on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 23, with a left hamstring strain.

It’s unclear when Frazier suffered the injury but he’ll now be out of commission until at least the end of the month. It leaves the Pirates thin in the OF after they lost Starling Marte last week. Jose Osuna and John Jaso will see some starts for now but the club figures to get some help from outside the organization.

Antonio Bastardo, RP: Apr 25 – 3:31 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates placed LHP Antonio Bastardo on the 10-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

Bastardo has been flat-out awful this season, allowing 12 runs on 15 hits and seven walks over 6 2/3 innings. An injury would provide some context to his struggles, though this move could be designed to simply give him a break and get him back on track.

Dovydas Neverauskas, RP: Apr 26 – 3:30 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates optioned RHP Dovydas Neverauskas to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Neverauskas became the first native of Lithuania to appear in a major league game on Monday night against the Cubs but he yielded a run on two hits in two innings of work. The 24-year-old RHP should get another shot soon.

Apr 24 – 7:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Pirates recalled RHP Dovydas Neverauskas from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Neverauskas hadn’t allowed an earned run in his first five relief appearances at Indy this season. The 24-year-old will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

He’s replacing the injured Adam Frazier on the Pirates’ roster.

Up:

Aaron Altherr, OF: April 29 – With Howie Kendrick on the shelf for two or three weeks, Aaron Altherr and Daniel Nava are splitting time in LF. In fact, each of them has started 5 games there in the 11 games since Kendrick was sidelined. Altherr has also started 4 additional games at other OF positions – 3 in RF and 1 in CF.

Daniel Nava, OF: April 29 – With Howie Kendrick on the shelf for two or three weeks, Daniel Nava and Aaron Altherr are splitting time in LF. In fact, each of them has started 5 games there in the 11 games since Kendrick was sidelined. Nava also started 1 game in LF prior to Kendrick’s absence but he’s only started 1 additional game at another OF positions – RF.

Luis Garcia, RP: Apr 12 – 2:25 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies recalled RHP Luis Garcia from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Garcia failed to earn a spot on the Phillies’ Opening Day roster this spring but he’s getting the call today after Adam Morgan worked 3 2/3 innings in mop-up duty last night against the Mets.

Brock Stassi, 1B: April 29 – Brock Stassi may be taking some 1B action away for the slumping Tommy Joseph. Stassi has started 3 of the past 5 games at 1B (but only 5 out of 22 in total). He’s not hitting too much better than Joseph, but he has shown a bit of power in his limited playing time.

Freddy Galvis, SS: April 29 – Freddy Galvis appears to have risen in value a bit. He’s hitting well and has driven in the second most runs on the team (after Maikel Franco). After starting the year batting from the #8 hole, he moved up to #7 on April 20 for 4 games before seeing action from the #2 spot for the past 3 games in a row.

Hector Neris, RP, Closer: Apr 27 – 4:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Hector Neris needed just seven pitches to pick up his third save of the year today against the Marlins.

Six of those were strikes. Neris protected a 2-1 lead after Joaquin Benoit set him up in the eighth. The Phillies’ front office wanted Benoit getting these saves but Pete Mackanin has gotten his way so far. While no one has named Neris the Closer, it’s clear he’s Mackanin’s choice.

Apr 22 – 8:34 AM (Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News/Rotoworld) — Phillies’ manager Pete Mackanin reiterated after yesterday’s game that Joaquin Benoit and Hector Neris will continue to share the Closer’s role.

Benoit worked a perfect eighth inning yesterday while Neris allowed a run but converted his second straight save in the ninth. It appears that Mackanin trusts both hurlers in the ninth innings.

Apr 21 – 10:20 PM (Rotoworld) — Hector Neris allowed a solo homer to Adonis Garcia and battled a 26-minute rain delay but was able to escape with his second save of the season today.

Neris was tasked with protecting a two-run advantage in the ninth inning and made things interesting by allowing a home run to Garcia before a 26-minute rain delay. After the delay, he allowed a pair of singles but was able to battle back and retire the Braves without further damage.

He seems to have leapfrogged Joaquin Benoit for save chances but, with his struggles here, it’s anyone’s guess who Pete Mackanin will turn to the next time the Phillies have a lead to protect in the ninth inning.

Apr 21 – 4:29 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said that Hector Neris would be used if the team gets a save chance today.

Neris was somewhat surprisingly used in a save chance yesterday against the Mets and closed things out. While Mackanin still doesn’t appear ready to officially name Neris as Closer, it certainly looks like he’s first in line for save opportunities at the moment. Joaquin Benoit appears poised for a Setup role again, although we can’t rule out him netting a stray save from time to time.

Apr 20 – 11:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies manager Pete Mackanin declined to name a closer after using Hector Neris to close out today’s win over the Mets.

Joaquin Benoit took over closer duties from Jeanmar Gomez last week but may have ruined his opportunity by allowing a walk-off home run to Bryce Harper on Sunday, April 16. Benoit pitched the eighth inning today before giving way to Neris in the ninth.

Neris has been the Phillies’ best reliever since Ken Giles left and probably should have been pitching the ninth inning all along.

Down:

Luis Garcia, RP: Apr 12 – 2:25 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies recalled RHP Luis Garcia from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Garcia failed to earn a spot on the Phillies’ Opening Day roster this spring but he’s getting the call today after Adam Morgan worked 3 2/3 innings in mop-up duty last night against the Mets.

Tommy Joseph, 1B: April 29 – There are signs that Tommy Joseph may be losing his grip on 1B. He’s off to a rough start – a sub-.200 batting average and only 1 HR – and has only started 2 of the last 5 games. Brock Stassi has started 3 of the past 5 games at 1B but only 5 out of 22 in total. In addition, he’s not hitting too much better than Joseph.

Jeanmar Gomez, RP, Closer: Apr 10 – 8:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Jeanmar Gomez has been removed from the Phillies’ closer role.

Gomez entered the season on thin ice after his struggles last September and he recorded one shaky save and blew another among his first three appearances. That was evidently enough for manager Pete Mackanin, who will go with Joaquin Benoit in the ninth inning for now.

Apr 9 – 9:03 PM (MLB.com/Rotoworld) — Jeanmar Gomez’s closer role looks to be in jeopardy as the RHP is set to meet with manager Pete Mackanin tomorrow.

When asked about it after Gomez gave up three runs in a blown save today against the Nationals, Mackanin noted “I’ll have something for you tomorrow. I need to talk with him.” Gomez owns a 15.00 ERA through his first three outings of the season and already had just a tenuous grasp on the ninth-inning gig. It sounds as though Hector Neris could take over the closing duties as early as tomorrow.

Joaquin Benoit, Setup, SP, Closer: Apr 27 – 4:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Hector Neris needed just seven pitches to pick up his third save of the year today against the Marlins.

Apr 21 – 10:20 PM (Rotoworld) — Hector Neris seems to have leapfrogged Joaquin Benoit for save chances but with Neris’ struggles today, it’s anyone’s guess who Pete Mackanin will turn to the next time the Phillies have a lead to protect in the ninth inning.

Apr 20 – 11:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies manager Pete Mackanin declined to confirm that he’s decided to change Closers after using Hector Neris to close out today’s win over the Mets.

Joaquin Benoit took over closer duties from Jeanmar Gomez last week but may have ruined his opportunity by allowing a walk-off home run to Bryce Harper last Sunday, April 16.

Benoit pitched the eighth inning today before giving way to Neris in the ninth. Neris has been the Phillies’ best reliever since Ken Giles left and probably should have been pitching the ninth inning all along.

Apr 10 – 4:19 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said today that Joaquin Benoit will be the team’s closer for the time being.

It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Jeanmar Gomez would be booted from the role and it was just a matter of whether Mackanin went with Hector Neris or Benoit as the replacement. He’s elected to go with the 39-year-old Benoit, who posted a 2.81 ERA with over a strikeout per inning in 2016 and who has tossed three scoreless frames to start 2017. Neris is undoubtedly the most talented guy in the Phillies’ bullpen and could eventually get a shot but Philly probably considered his arbitration cost here.

In:

Zach Eflin, SP: Apr 18 – 1:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies recalled RHP Zach Eflin from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Eflin will take Clay Buchholz’s spot in the Phillies’ rotation and start today against the Mets. The 23-year-old began the year on the disabled list after undergoing surgery on both of his knees last August.

Mark Leiter, Jr., RP: Apr 18 – 6:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Mark Leiter, Jr. from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The son of 11-year major leaguer Mark Leiter will join the Phillies in a middle relief role after registering a 1.69 ERA and 11/2 K/BB ratio over his first 5 1/3 innings at Triple-A. His dad pitched for the Phils in 1997-1998.

Ty Kelly, IF, OF: Apr 25 – 5:31 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies recalled INF/OF Ty Kelly from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Kelly will take the 25-man roster spot left vacant by starting pitcher Aaron Nola who landed on the 10-day disabled list today with a lower back strain. Kelly, 28, is a .237/.347/.339 career hitter at the major league level. He was acquired from the Blue Jays last week for cash considerations.

Out:

Howie Kendrick, OF: Apr 22 – 11:51 PM (PhillyVoice.com/Rotoworld) — Phillies GM Matt Klentak said the team expects to be without Howie Kendrick (oblique) for 2-3 weeks.

Kendrick was placed on the disabled list with a Grade 1 oblique strain earlier this week. Aaron Altherr will continue to hold down the fort in LF, though the Phillies added some depth today by acquiring utility man Ty Kelly in a trade with Toronto.

Apr 22 – 8:44 AM (CSN Philly/Rotoworld) — Howie Kendrick is expected to miss more time than originally anticipated as it was revealed he’s actually dealing with an oblique issue and not an abdominal strain.

The Phillies had been hopeful he would return when first eligible on April 26 but now there’s no clear timetable for his return. Aaron Altherr has seen extra playing time in his absence and is locked in at the plate, so he could be worth a look in the interim.

Apr 18 – 6:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies placed OF Howie Kendrick on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 16, with a right abdominal strain.

Kendrick suffered the injury on Saturday, April 15, while making a diving catch. Daniel Nava figures to get the majority of the playing time in LF while Kendrick is sidelined, though Aaron Altherr and Brock Stassi are also in the mix. Kendrick was sporting a cool .333/.395/.487 batting line through his first 10 regular-season games.

Apr 18 – 4:37 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said Howie Kendrick (ribs) could be placed on the disabled list.

Hendrick has been experiencing soreness and tenderness in his rib cage since making a diving catch on Saturday, April 15, and the Phillies don’t want to make the situation worse. They can backdate a 10-day disabled list stint so that he’s eligible to return next week. Daniel Nava is starting in LF tonight against the Mets.

Apr 18 – 3:19 PM (Rotoworld) — Howie Kendrick (ribs) is not in today’s lineup against the Mets.

Kendrick is apparently still dealing with soreness near his ribs after his diving catch on Saturday, April 15. Daniel Nava will start in LF.

Apr 16 – 11:31 AM (Rotoworld) — Howie Kendrick isn’t in today’s lineup because he’s still sore following a diving catch yesterdday.

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin didn’t disclose what specifically is sore with Kendrick but, regardless, this shouldn’t be a big deal. Consider him day-to-day. Brock Stassi is in LF for today’s game.

Aaron Nola, SP: Apr 24 – 1:36 PM (Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News/Rotoworld) — Aaron Nola (back) is only expected to miss 1-2 starts.

Nola felt some soreness in his lower back during his most recent start on Thursday, April 21, against the Mets and it lingered during a side session yesterday so the Phillies decided not to take any chances. He could return as soon as next Monday, May 1. Ty Kelly is expected to take his place on the active roster but Nick Pivetta will likely take his spot in the rotation on Wednesday, April 26.

Apr 24 – 1:05 PM (Philadelphia Inquirer/Rotoworld) — Phillies placed RHP Aaron Nola on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 21, with a lower back strain.

It’s unclear how long Nola will be sidelined. Some reports indicate that Nick Pivetta is likely to fill in on Wednesday, April 26, against the Marlins. Nola posted a 4.50 ERA and 15/6 K/BB ratio in 16 innings through his first three starts this season.

Clay Buchholz, SP: Apr 26 – 7:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Clay Buchholz (arm) said he hopes to pitch in September.

Buchholz recently underwent surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon and is expected to miss 4-6 months.

Apr 22 – 2:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies transferred RHP Clay Buchholz to the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing has changed in the recovery for the RHP; this was done as a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster. Buchholz is expected to miss 4-6 months due to a torn flexor tendon in his right arm.

Apr 18 – 1:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies placed RHP Clay Buchholz on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a torn flexor tendon in his right forearm.

Buchholz underwent surgery today and is expected to miss 4-6 months. This essentially knocks him out for the remainder of the season. The Phillies acquired Buchholz in hopes of turning him into an interesting trade chip at the deadline but he ended up making just two starts for the club. Zach Eflin will take his spot in the rotation.

Apr 18 – 8:39 AM (Barstool Sports/Rotoworld) — Clay Buchholz will undergo surgery today to repair the partial tear of his flexor pronator mass.

Buchholz was diagnosed with the partial tear of the right flexor pronator mass in his right arm last week and was set to see Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion yesterday. He’s not facing Tommy John surgery but he’s still expected to miss around 3-5 months. At this point, it’s very possible – if not likely – that he’ll miss the remainder of the season.

Apr 12 – 5:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Clay Buchholz’s MRI revealed that he is suffering from a partial tear of the right flexor pronator mass in his right arm.

Not the best of signs for the Phillies here. Buchholz will pay a visit to Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion next Monday, April 17. After that examination, his future options figure to clarify some. Major surgery is a possibility. Buchholz sustained the forearm injury while throwing a pitch against the Marlins in the third inning yesterday.

Apr 11 – 8:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Clay Buchholz has been diagnosed with a right forearm strain.

Buchholz was lifted in the third inning of his start tonight against the Mets after short-arming a changeup in the top of the third inning. There’s probably an MRI coming and Buchholz is almost certainly headed for a long stay on the disabled list.

Apr 11 – 8:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Clay Buchholz was lifted in the third inning of his start today against the Mets due to an apparent injury. There should be an update shortly from Citizens Bank Park.

Adam Morgan, RP: Apr 11 – 10:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies optioned LHP Adam Morgan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Morgan threw 3 2/3 innings in mop-up duty in today’s game as the Phillies were trounced by the visiting Mets and the LHP wasn’t going to be available for the next few days. Philly will promote a new long-relief man tomorrow.

Ben Lively, RP: Apr 21 – 3:21 PM (Rotoworld) — Phillies optioned RHP Ben Lively to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Lively didn’t make an appearance in his couple days with the big club. He’ll return to Lehigh Valley’s rotation.

Apr 19 – 11:14 AM (Rotoworld) — Phillies recalled RHP Ben Lively from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Lively had been working as a starter at Lehigh Valley but he’ll serve as an emergency bullpen arm for the Phillies while Pat Neshek spends a bit of time on the paternity leave list.

Up:

Jaff Decker, OF: April 26 – Not only has Jaff Decker been added to the roster in place of the injured Rajai Davis but he’s been able to show what he can do, too. As a result, he’s starting in CF almost every day and hitting at the top of the batting order.

With Davis due back in about a week, though, it will be interesting to see what that does to Becker’s prospects.

Adam Rosales, SS, 2B, OF: April 26With Marcus Semien out of action for two months or so, Adam Rosales is seeing a significant uptick in value. He’s started at SS in every game since Semien’s injury. In the 11 games prior to that, he had started 3 games at 2B and 1 in LF – but none at SS.

However, his increased value is limited by the fact that he almost always bats in the #9 position in the batting order. He’s started 10 games there versus 1 in the leadoff spot, 2 at #2 and 1 at #8.

Ryan Madson, RP: April 26 – Even though Santiago Casilla and Sean Doolittle seem secure in the top two bullpen roles, Ryan Madson’s strong performance is putting a little pressure on them. With 2 Holds and 1 Save, plus a 2.25 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, he’s also putting some distance between himself and his competition, including Ryan Dull and Liam Hendricks.

Down:

Matt Joyce, OF: April 26 – Matt Joyce has not received as much playing time as expected, probably because of his .161 Batting Average and .290 Slugging mark. He’s started only 14 out of 21 games in RF.

In addition, he’s moved down in the batting order. After beginning the year at #2, with a few games at leadoff, most of his time these days is spent at either #8 or #7.

Jed Lowrie, 2B: April 26 – Jed Lowrie may be seeing a slight decrease in value despite a recent improvement in his batting stats. Over a 7 game period between April 17 and 24, he went 11-for-21, with 1 HR and 6 RBI. However, in the next two games, he was 0-for-10, with 6 Ks. He’s seen more time at the #2 post recently than in his normal #3 spot.

In:

Jesse Hahn, SP, RP: Apr 14 – 5:02 AM (Rotoworld) — Jesse Hahn turned in a quality start in yesterday’s loss to the Royals, surrendering three runs on six hits over six innings.

Hahn struck out seven and walked two on the evening. The Royals hit him up for a pair of runs in the first inning courtesy of RBI singles by Lorenzo Cain and Salvador Perez. Brandon Moss’ third-inning sacrifice fly would polish of the scoring on Hahn’s line.

Over his first two starts this season, the 27-year-old right-hander has pitched respectably enough, allowing five runs on 13 hits over 12 frames. A home start against the Rangers shows next on his schedule.

Apr 9 – 1:24 PM (Rotoworld) — Jesse Hahn will start on Thursday, April 13, versus the Royals.

He’s taking Raul Alcantara’s spot in the rotation. Hahn relieved a struggling Alcantara on Friday, April 7, and allowed two runs over six innings of work, showing a fastball that touched 98 mph. The righty posted a 6.02 ERA over nine starts with the A’s last season but he has certainly flashed upside before with his velocity uptick.

Apr 5 – 4:57 PM (Rotoworld) — A’s recalled RHP Jesse Hahn from Triple-A Nashville.

Hahn was sent down at the end of spring training but, with John Axford now sidelined due to a shoulder injury, he will join the big league club to add a little pitching depth.

Kendall Graveman, SP: Apr 26 – 9:27 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Kendall Graveman will be on a “slightly” reduced pitch count when he returns from the disabled list tomorrow against the Angels.

Graveman only missed one turn through the rotation while nursing a strained shoulder. The A’s are going to be cautious with him in his first start back but it won’t be long until the training wheels come off.

Apr 25 – 6:54 PM (Rotoworld) — Kendall Graveman (shoulder) threw a successful 42-pitch bullpen session yesterday.

Graveman reported no day-after discomfort today and is on track to return to the Oakland rotation Thursday, April 27, in Anaheim. The 26-year-old right-hander was sporting an excellent 2-0 record, 2.00 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP through three starts (18 innings) this season, showing improved fastball velocity. This shoulder issue will hopefully be a minor blip.

Apr 23 – 2:33 PM (Rotoworld) — Kendall Graveman (shoulder) will throw another bullpen session tomorrow and is on track to start Thursday, April 27, in Anaheim.

Graveman went on the disabled list a week ago with a shoulder injury, but the move has looked precautionary from the beginning, as the righty resumed throwing a day after going on the DL. The righty has put up a 2.00 ERA in his first three starts and should be started in deeper fantasy leagues this week.

Apr 17 – 7:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Kendall Graveman (shoulder) expects to miss just one start.

Graveman landed on the disabled list today with a right shoulder strain but it looks like a precautionary move after he had trouble staying loose in his last start. The righty will play catch today and hopes to throw a bullpen session on Thursday, April 20 or Friday, April 21. He’ll be eligible to return April 25.

Apr 17 – 4:40 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed RHP Kendall Graveman on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a right shoulder strain.

Graveman was pulled from his start last Friday, April 14, after throwing just 74 pitches even though he’d allowed only one run. The RHP said after the game that he was having trouble staying loose. While the A’s are calling Graveman’s injury a strained shoulder, some think the club could just be skipping one turn to be safe. He’ll be eligible to return April 25.

Jaff Decker, OF: Apr 15 – 11:41 AM (Rotoworld) — Athletics purchased the contract of OF Jaff Decker from Triple-A Nashville.

Decker was one of the final cuts of the spring after hitting .313/.421/.438 in Cactus League action. He continued his hot-hitting at Triple-A, hitting .387/.472/.452 in his first eight games, earning a call to the show. He’s taking the roster spot of Mark Canha who has been sent to the minors.

Chad Pinder, 2B, SS, DH: Apr 16 – 12:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics recalled INF Chad Pinder from Triple-A Nashville.

Pinder should see plenty of playing time at shortstop while Marcus Semien (wrist) is sidelined. He was off to a .324/.359/.378 start with Nashville.

Matt Olson, OF: Apr 21 – 6:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics recalled OF Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville.

The A’s optioned Cesar Valdez back to Triple-A and have the luxury of having a bench bat for an extra couple of days, so Olson will function in that role.

Ryan LaMarre, OF: Apr 25 – 5:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics recalled OF Ryan LaMarre from Triple-A Nashville.

LaMarre was acquired from the Angels last week for cash considerations. The 28-year-old outfielder is 2-for-30 (.067) in his career at the major league level.

He’s replacing OF Rajai Davis who’s out with a strained left hamstring.

Apr 23 – 12:08 PM Athletics acquired OF Ryan LaMarre from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

LaMarre had been designated for assignment. The 28-year-old has struggled in his brief time in the majors the last two seasons but the A’s need OF depth and LaMarre can play all three spots. For now, though, he’ll be assigned to the A’s minor league affiliate in Nashville.

Cesar Valdez, RP: Apr 25 – 5:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics recalled RHP Cesar Valdez from Triple-A Nashville.

Valdez gave up three runs over four innings last Thursday, April 20, in a spot start against the Mariners. It looks like he’ll be used as a long man out of the bullpen this time around.

Apr 21 – 6:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics optioned RHP Cesar Valdez to Triple-A Nashville.

The RHP struggled in a spot start against the Mariners on yesterday and was no longer needed with Kendall Graveman expected to return in time for his next start. He’ll bide his time at Triple-A until the A’s have another need in the rotation.

Apr 20 – 3:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics purchased the contract of RHP Cesar Valdez from Triple-A Nashville.

Valdez will start for the A’s tonight against the Mariners, filling in for the injured Kendall Graveman. Valdez hasn’t appeared in a game at the major league level since 2010. He could be sent back to Triple-A tomorrow.

Out:

Marcus Semien, SS: Apr 20 – 3:10 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics transferred SS Marcus Semien from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Semien underwent surgery on Tuesday, April 18, for a fractured scaphoid bone at the base of his right hand and will be out for at least two months. Adam Rosales has taken over as the A’s primary SS. Chad Pinder is also in the mix for playing time at SS in Oakland and top prospect Franklin Barreto is waiting in the wings at Triple-A Nashville.

Apr 19 – 12:20 AM (Rotoworld) — Marcus Semien underwent right wrist surgery yesterday as scheduled.

He had a screw inserted into the fractured scaphoid bone at the base of his right hand. Semien will be shut down for at least six weeks and is likely going to miss at least two months of games. Adam Rosales has been filling in at SS for Oakland and Chad Pinder is also an option there. This situation could rush the arrival of top prospect Franklin Barreto.

Apr 17 – 6:28 PM (Rotoworld) — Marcus Semien will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his right wrist.

Semien will have a screw inserted into his wrist and will be re-evaluated in six weeks, at which point a clearer timetable for his return will be known. The SS had actually suffered the injury late in spring training but obviously felt it was something he could play through. Adam Rosales has started the last three games at SS for the A’s but Chad Pinder is also around and could get a look. Top prospect Franklin Barreto is off to a .310/.375/.524 start at Triple-A Nashville and might eventually be an option.

Apr 16 – 12:00 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed SS Marcus Semien on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a right wrist contusion.

Semien has been battling a bone bruise on his wrist since the end of spring training and the A’s have finally decided to give him some extended rest. There would seem to be a good chance that he’ll be ready for activation when his 10 days are up. Chad Pinder has replaced him on the roster and he could see most of the starts at SS although Adam Rosales might also be in the mix.

Apr 15 – 9:36 PM (Rotoworld) — Marcus Semien’s MRI revealed a bone contusion on his right wrist.

Semien will go for a CT scan on Monday, April 17. It’s an injury Semien has been dealing with since the end of spring training and might explain his sluggish start (.171 AVG with no homers in 35 at-bats). While the initial diagnosis looks good, there’s no guarantee Semien will avoid the disabled list. Adam Rosales started in his place today against Houston.

Apr 15 – 3:46 PM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) — Marcus Semien underwent an MRI today on his sore right wrist.

It’s an issue that has been bothering Semien for awhile, although he has been able to play through it. He had been feeling it on swings but it started to affect him while throwing during yesterday’s game. Expect an update on his status after the A’s get the results of that MRI.

Rajai Davis, OF: Apr 25 – 5:48 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed OF Rajai Davis on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 21, with a left hamstring strain.

It’s not a severe strain but the A’s will take advantage of the new 10-day disabled list to get Davis some needed rest.

Apr 23 – 1:36 PM (Rotoworld) — Rajai Davis (hamstring) remained out of the Athletics’ lineup today.

It will be a third straight start that he’s missed due to a tight left hamstring. Davis worked out prior to yesterday’s game and presumably will prior to today’s game, as well, so it appears he’s close to returning.

Apr 22 – 1:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Rajai Davis (hamstring) is again absent from the A’s starting lineup for today’s game against the Mariners.

Jaff Decker is drawing another start in CF and is batting ninth for the A’s while Adam Rosales slides up to the leadoff spot. If Davis isn’t ready to return tomorrow, it would not be surprising to see the A’s place him on the disabled list.

Apr 21 – 8:04 PM (Rotoworld) — Rajai Davis (hamstring) is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup today.

A’s skipper Bob Melvin said that the speedy OF will need a couple of days before returning to the lineup. There’s a chance that they could wind up placing him on the disabled list if he doesn’t progress quickly. Jaff Decker is starting in his place and batting leadoff for the A’s today against the Mariners.

Jake Smolinski, OF, DH: Apr 20 – 7:33 PM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski (shoulder) is out of his sling and has resumed light weight work.

Smolinski is still at least 11 weeks away from throwing. He was recently transferred to the 60-day disabled list and obviously won’t be pitching for Oakland any time soon.

Apr 15 – 11:53 AM  (Rotoworld) — Athletics transferred OF Jake Smolinski to the 60-day disabled list

Smolinski is dealing with a right shoulder injury and still has no clear timetable for recovery. This was merely a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Jaff Decker.

Apr 1 – 9:33 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed OF Jake Smolinski on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury.

He’s a little over two weeks removed from shoulder surgery. With Smolinski down for the count, Mark Canha will handle fourth OF duties behind starters Khris Davis, Rajai Davis and Matt Joyce.

Mar 17 – 12:47 PM (Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski had his labrum repaired and a bursectomy procedure during his shoulder surgery yesterday.

Smolinski will be in a sling for four weeks and probably won’t be an option in the A’s OF until June at the earlier. He was a favorite to win the last spot on the team’s bench. Alejandro De Aza is one option there now but the A’s could grab someone on waivers at the end of the month.

Mar 14 – 1:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski will undergo surgery on his right shoulder.

Smolinksi has been bothered by the issue all spring and it simply hasn’t responded as hoped. The exact nature of the problem isn’t entirely clear, so more should be known about a timetable after the surgery. His absence means that Alejandro De Aza and Jaff Decker will compete for the fifth OF job.

Mar 11 – 7:37 PM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski is expected to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder.

Smolinski wasn’t in the lineup for yesterday’s Cactus League game against Texas. Even when Smolinski has played this spring, he’s been limited to DHing. Smolinski’s shoulder issue was originally thought to be minor but the MRI suggests it could be getting worse.

Mar 4 – 12:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski will serve as the Athletics’ DH on Monday, March 6.

Smolinski has been cleared for hitting but is unable to play the field due to his shoulder. He’s in the mix for a reserve OF job this spring.

Feb 26 – 1:29 PM (Rotoworld) — Jake Smolinski is not able to play the field yet due to a right shoulder issue.

Smolinski is able to hit, so he can serve as DH. However, it could be a while before he’s cleared for full-time duty. He’s competing for a reserve outfielder job with the A’s this spring.

Joe Wendle, 2B: Apr 18 – 7:24 PM (Rotoworld) — Joey Wendle (shoulder) will report to Triple-A Nashville tomorrow.

Wendle is recovered from the shoulder injury that cost him much of spring training. He’ll be activated from the major league disabled list and officially optioned to Triple-A.

Apr 15 – 6:10 PM (Rotoworld) — Joey Wendle (shoulder) has been swinging a bat and throwing.

Wendle has resumed baseball activities after getting a cortisone shot a few weeks ago. When healthy, the A’s will likely stash Wendle in Triple-A, though he should earn a few call-ups throughout the year.

Apr 1 – 9:27 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed 2B Joey Wendle on the 10-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Shoulder soreness has kept Wendle sidelined since early March. The A’s are waiting to see how he responds to a cortisone shot. Wendle logged 96 at-bats as a September call-up last year.

Mar 29 – 1:22 PM (Rotoworld) — Joey Wendle (shoulder) will stay behind in extended spring training.

Wendle has been dealing with a sore shoulder for most of the month and will receive a cortisone shot later this week. He’s set to open the year on the 10-day disabled list.

Mar 27 – 1:27 PM (Rotoworld) — Joe Wendle (shoulder) took regular batting practice today in A’s camp.

It was the first BP round in a while for the 26-year-old infielder, who’s been held out of Cactus League action since March 7 due to a shoulder injury. He figures to open the 2017 season on the disabled list.

Mar 23 – 1:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Joe Wendle (shoulder) is scheduled to play catch today for the first time in more than a week.

Wendle has been held out of Cactus League action since March 7 because of a shoulder injury. A recent MRI showed no structural issues but the 26-year-old probably won’t make Oakland’s roster anyway.

Sonny Gray, SP: Apr 23 – 2:29 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) will make his next rehab start at Triple-A Nashville next Thursday, April 27.

Gray was terrific in his first outing yesterday at High-A Stockton, allowing only one hit while striking out six over five scoreless innings. He threw 47 pitches in that start and will get his pitch count up to 75 Thursday. Assuming everything goes well, Gray will rejoin the A’s rotation after that.

Apr 23 – 9:03 AM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) yielded just one hit while striking out six over five scoreless innings in his first rehab start with High-A Stockton yesterday.

Gray didn’t walk anyone, throwing 34 of his 47 pitches for strikes. The veteran RHP had been slated for one more rehab outing before being activated but Saturday’s showing was so good that it’s possible the A’s could go ahead and stick him back into the rotation later this week. Gray is a worthy stash in fantasy leagues where he’s still available.

Apr 18 – 6:37 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) reported feeling strong today after throwing three innings in an extended spring training game yesterday in Arizona.

“It was a really good day,” said Gray, who threw his entire arsenal and had good velocity readings on his fastball. The next step could be a minor league rehab assignment. He’s on track to join the Oakland rotation in late April or early May.

Apr 10 – 1:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) will throw to hitters this coming Thursday, April 13.

Gray was cleared after making it through a bullpen session today with no issues with his lat muscle. Gray will throw two sets of 15 pitches to hitter on Thursday. The A’s will likely want him to go out on a brief minor league rehab assignment but he has a chance to make his season debut by the end of the month.

Apr 8 – 7:30 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) will throw an “extended” bullpen session on Monday.

Gray has a few hurdles left to clear – he still hasn’t faced hitters yet and can probably expect a short rehab assignment – but he seems to be making solid progress in his recovery from a strained lat.

Apr 4 – 7:21 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) threw a successful 25-pitch bullpen session this afternoon.

Gray used his entire arsenal and reported feeling strong. He’ll throw another 2 to 3 bullpen sessions before advancing to live batting practice and then a minor league rehab assignment. The hope is he’ll be ready to join the A’s rotation in late April.

Apr 3 – 6:21 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) will throw a bullpen session tomorrow.

It will be his first since he was shut down last month with a strained right lat. Gray resumed a throwing program a week earlier than initially expected, so he’s a little ahead of schedule. Still, obviously, there are multiple hoops to jump through here before we can talk about when he might rejoin the Athletics’ rotation.

Apr 1 – 9:16 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed RHP Sonny Gray on the 10-day disabled list with a strained lat.

Gray strained his lat about a month ago but has made good progress and could resume mound work soon. He’s hoping to return by the end of April.

Apr 1 – 7:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) threw all his pitches on flat ground today.

It’s another step in the right direction for Gray, who is working his way back from a lat strain he suffered early in spring training. Gray’s next hurdle will be mound work. He’s aiming to rejoin Oakland’s rotation sometime in late April.

Apr 1 – 12:28 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) is scheduled to throw off of flat ground today.

Assuming all goes well, he’ll likely progress to throwing off of a mound early in the week. The right-hander is still on track for a return in late April.

Mar 28 – 1:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) has been throwing at max effort from 105 feet.

Manager Bob Melvin said Gray feels great and is “asking for more.” Despite his progress, the A’s are going to play it safe by not rushing Gray in his recovery from a strained lat. The next step for him will be getting back on mound. Gray’s best-case scenario is a return in mid-April.

Mar 21 – 5:25 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray (lat) has been cleared to resume a throwing program.

Gray was supposed to be shut down for three weeks after being diagnosed with a strained right lat. But he had an MRI at his two-week checkup and, today, he was given the go-ahead to throw from 75 feet. That puts him ahead of schedule, meaning that he could return by mid-April if all goes well rather than the initial late-April projection. It’s good news but Gray remains a question mark after last year’s performance and health struggles coupled with more issues this spring.

Mar 9 – 12:09 PM (Rotoworld) — Sonny Gray will be shut down for the next three weeks due to a moderate lat strain.

That obviously rules him out for Opening Day and he could be in danger of missing much of April since he will basically have to re-start his throwing program.

Daniel Mengden, SP: Apr 26 – 9:19 PM (Rotoworld) — Daniel Mengden (foot) threw two sets of 20 pitches during today’s bullpen session.

He’s still recovering from a broken foot he suffered during the off-season. Mengden has kept his arm in shape throughout his rehab and should return to the Oakland starting rotation sooner rather than later.

Apr 19 – 1:39 PM (Rotoworld) — Daniel Mengden (foot) threw a bullpen session on Monday, April 17, and will throw another tomorrow.

Mengden is taking significant steps in his recovery from a fractured right medial tibial sesamoid bone and could become an option for the Oakland rotation around mid-to-late May. The 24-year-old RHP has posted promising numbers in the minors, though he struggled to a 2-9 record and 6.50 ERA over his first 14 major league starts in 2016.

Apr 1 – 9:24 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed RHP Daniel Mengden on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured foot.

Mengden broke a bone in his foot while throwing a bullpen session back in January. He had his walking boot removed on Monday, March 27, but there’s still no timetable for his return. The 24-year-old took his lumps as a rookie, going 2-9 with a hideous 6.50 ERA in 14 starts.

Mar 24 – 12:56 PM (Rotoworld) — Daniel Mengden will have the walking boot on his right foot removed on Monday, March 27.

Mengden had surgery on his fractured right medial tibial sesamoid bone last month. It’s unclear when he might be game-ready but, obviously, it will be a while.

Feb 8 – 1:17 PM (Rotoworld) — Daniel Mengden will be in a walking boot for six weeks after undergoing right foot surgery yesterday.

Mengden fractured his medial tibial sesamoid bone in his foot while throwing a bullpen session at home on January 31. It’s unclear how soon he’ll be ready to pitch after shedding the walking boot. The injury makes it more likely that Andrew Triggs will begin the year as the fifth starter. Mengden, who turns 24 this month, posted a 6.50 ERA over 14 starts as a rookie in 2016.

John Axford, Setup, RP: Apr 25 – 8:44 PM (Rotoworld) — John Axford (shoulder) has resumed throwing.

A’s manager Bob Melvin told reporters today that the veteran reliever is feeling good and could begin throwing off a mound during the club’s current road trip. Axford landed on the disabled list at the end of spring training with a right shoulder strain. If all goes well, he might be ready around mid-to-late May.

Apr 23 – 10:09 AM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) –John Axford (shoulder) said yesterday that he expects to resume throwing in a few days.

Axford said he felt some soreness while making sock throws Wednesday but he thinks that was mainly because he found it “really awkward.”

“We’re just being a little cautious,” he said. “Next time I throw, it will just be regular throwing on the field, coming up soon. The way things have progressed, it’s been positive, no issues.” Axford isn’t expected back for the A’s until late May.

Apr 6 – 1:25 PM (Rotoworld) — An MRI on John Axford’s strained right shoulder revealed no structural damage.

Axford felt discomfort in his shoulder while warming up on Tuesday and was placed on the disabled list yesterday. In a more positive development, his MRI showed only the suspected Grade 1 shoulder strain and nothing more ominous. Axford will not be picking up a ball for a week, after which his status will be re-evaluated. There is no concrete timetable for his return at this juncture.

Apr 5 – 7:15 PM (Rotoworld) — John Axford (shoulder) is undergoing an MRI on his strained right shoulder.

Axford was placed on the 10-day disabled list earlier today. He initially felt discomfort in his shoulder while warming up during yesterday’s game against the Angels. This MRI should provide a clearer picture of the severity of his injury and how long it might take him to recover. The A’s are hoping that Axford won’t be down for the count for more than a week or so.

Apr 5 – 4:54 PM (Rotoworld) — A’s placed RHP John Axford on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 2, with a strained right shoulder.

There is no current timetable for Axford’s recovery. The veteran RHP pitched to a 3.97 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 60/30 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 frames with the A’s during the 2016 season. Expect further updates on his health and recovery in the coming days. Jesse Hahn has been called up to take his spot on the roster.

Chris Bassitt, RP: Apr 26 – 9:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Saturday, April 29.

He’ll throw three innings or 45 pitches – whichever comes first. Bassitt is well ahead of schedule in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and should be back in the big leagues by early June.

Apr 23 – 12:12 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics transferred RHP Chris Bassitt from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan LaMarre. Bassitt is looking at a mid-season return from Tommy John surgery.

Apr 21 – 7:31 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) is scheduled to throw 45 pitches in a simulated game in Arizona on Monday, April 24.

The right-hander continues to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Barring any setbacks, he could become an option for the A’s just before the All-Star break.

Apr 18 – 7:25 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) is scheduled to throw two simulated innings on tomorrow.

Each inning will run around 15 pitches. Bassitt is working his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and probably won’t become an option for the Athletics until mid-to-late June.

Apr 12 – 11:46 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) will throw a simulated inning at extended spring training on Friday, April 14.

Bassitt has been working out with High-A Stockton as he rehabs from Tommy John surgery. He is unlikely to be ready to contribute for the A’s until June or July, depending on how the remainder of his rehab plays out.

Apr 10 – 1:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) threw two sets of 15 pitches to hitters yesterday.

Bassitt, on his way back from Tommy John surgery, is currently working out with High-A Stockton. It’s unclear what the next step will be but he’s making encouraging progress. He could rejoin the A’s at some point during the first half.

Apr 5 – 6:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) threw 50 pitches on today, half coming off the bullpen mound and half on the field against hitters.

This was the first time Bassitt has started throwing since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May. He will continue his rehab with a similar slate of work on Sunday, April 9. The 28-year-old right-hander could return to action with the A’s in July or thereabouts. His exact timetable figures to be clarified in the coming weeks and months.

Apr 5 – 12:16 PM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) will throw to hitters today.

Bassitt looks to be well ahead of schedule in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and could be nearing a rehab assignment. Of course, given the nature of his injury, Bassitt’s rehab stint could last up to a month. Anything the A’s get from Bassitt before the All-Star break will be gravy.

Apr 1 – 9:20 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics placed RHP Chris Bassitt on the 10-day disabled list with an elbow injury.

Bassitt is on the comeback trail after undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. He’s been throwing for about two months and remains on track to return around mid-season.

Mar 28 – 1:11 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) threw two sets of 15 pitches off a mound on today.

It’s another step in Bassitt’s recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Mar 21 – 6:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) threw all of his pitches in a bullpen session today for the first time since Tommy John surgery.

Bassitt had the operation last May and has progressed without any setbacks so far during his rehab. He hopes to be an option for the A’s around mid-season.

Feb 14 – 3:36 PM (San Francisco Chronicle/Rotoworld) — Chris Bassitt (elbow) threw off the mound today for the first time since Tommy John surgery last May.

Bassitt threw 20 pitches from a distance of 55 feet. He’s been working on his mechanics during his rehab process and hopes to be an option for the A’s at some point around mid-season.

Bruce Maxwell, C: Apr 20 – 3:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics optioned C Bruce Maxwell to Triple-A Nashville.

Maxwell was only in the majors for a couple days. The 26-year-old may be up and down all season.

Apr 17 – 4:42 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics recalled C Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A Nashville.

Maxwell made a nice impression in his first taste of the big leagues last season with a .283/.337/.402 line over 101 plate appearances. He was off to a slow .208/.296/.375 start at Nashville and will operate as a third catcher for now.

Raul Alcantara, RP, SP: Apr 25 – 5:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Athletics designated RHP Raul Alcantara for assignment.

Alcantara had a 16.71 ERA through one start and two relief appearances this season for Oakland. The 24-year-old may draw some interest from other teams on waivers.

Mark Canha, 1B, OF: Apr 15 – 11:39 AM (Rotoworld) — Athletics optioned 1B/OF Mark Canha to Triple-A Nashville.

The 28-year-old was off to a slow start with the A’s, hitting just .105/.150/.158 with six Ks and no walks in 20 plate appearances. He’ll presumably see everyday ABs in the minor leagues in an effort to get back on track.

Up:

Austin Romine, C: April 23 – With Gary Sanchez on the DL, Austin Romine has been seeing a lot more action at Catcher. Prior to Sanchez’s April 8 injury, Romine had not started at all. Since then, however, he’s started 10 of 13 games.

Ronald Torreyes, SS: April 23 – In Didi Gregorius’ absence, Ronald Torreyes has received the vast majority of the starts at SS. He’s racked up starts in 15 of 18 total games since the season commenced, compared to only 3 for Pete Kozma.

Gregorius is set to return soon, though, so Torreyes should step back into his role as a utility IF in the next few days.

Aaron Hicks, OF: April 23 – Prior to Gary Sanchez’s injury, Aaron Hicks had started only 1 game – and he had batted in the #8 spot in the batting order in that game. Afterwards, though, Hicks saw a bit more action, particularly in Sanchez’s former #2 slot. In the 13 games since Sanchez went on the DL, Hicks has started 7 of them – including 6 of the first 8 – and all of them have been at #2.

Jacoby Ellsbury, OF: April 23 – After starting the year in the #5 slot in the batting order, Jacoby Ellsbury has moved around a bit – primarily because of Greg Bird’s slow start and Gary Sanchez’s injury. Overall, though, his value has probably increased a bit, as he’s gone from hitting in the #5 position over the first 5 games to spending 4 games at leadoff, 2 games in the #2 spot and 6 at cleanup. In fact, he’s been in the #4 position for 6 out of the past 9 games.

Starlin Castro, SS: April 23 – Starlin Castro hit from the #5 slot for the first 5 games of the year but, since then, he’s always been higher in the batting order. Currently, he’s more or less sharing the cleanup spot with Jacoby Ellsbury, starting 4 of the past 10 games there. In addition, he’s started 5 games at #5, 3 at #3 and 1 at #1.

Chase Headley, 3B: April 23 – As part of the Yankees’ revamped lineup, Chase Headley has moved from the #7 hole to a variety of higher ranking spots. He started the team’s first 5 games at #7 but, more recently, he’s started 3 of the past 4 games in the #2 slot, while the other saw him at #3. Prior to that he was at #5 for 4 games and #6 for 4 games.

Aaron Judge, OF: April 23 – Aaron Judge has been coming on after getting off to a very cold start. He was hitting .133 with a .200 Slugging Percentage, 0 Home Runs and 1 RBI after the first 5 games. But now he’s up to .279, .639, 6 HRs and 13 RBI.

As a result, he’s moved up the batting order, too, after seeing action from the #8 hole for the first 5 games. First, it was 4 games at #7, followed by 4 out of 6 games at #6. In the last 5 games, he’s batted from the #5 spot – including the last 3 games in a row.

Adam Warren, RP: April 23 – Even though he’s part of an excellent bullpen, Adam Warren has stood out in the early going. Working mainly in long relief, he’s racked up an .084 ERA and a .047 WHIP to go along with 12 Ks and 2 BBs in 10.7 innings of work over 6 games. It’s possible that if the team needs to replace someone in the starting rotation, Warren could be stretched out to fill that role.

Down:

Gred Bird, 1B: April 23 – A combination of things – a bruised ankle, the flu and a slow start – conspired to keep Bird out of the lineup for 4 games between April 8 and 12. He’s improved his production a bit since then but has still not hit his stride. For now, it looks like the Yankees will use a platoon, with Bird getting most of the playing time over Chris Carter by facing RH starters.

Bird has also been removed from the #3 spot in the batting order, though. After starting there in the Yankees’ first 4 games, he’s spent most of the rest of the schedule to date in the #6 and #7 slots.

In:

Pete Kozma, SS: Apr 2 – 10:15 AM (Rotoworld) — Yankees purchased the contract of SS Pete Kozma from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Kozma will provide depth while Didi Gregorius (shoulder) is sidelined. He’s not known for his bat but he offers a steady glove.

Kyle Higashioka, C: Apr 8 – 9:26 PM (Rotoworld) — Kyle Higashioka will join the Yankees tomorrow in Baltimore.

He’ll back up Austin Romine behind the plate while Gary Sanchez recovers from a strained biceps. This will be his first stint in the big leagues.

Jordan Montgomery, SP: Apr 12 – 12:40 PM (Rotoworld) — Yankees purchased the contract of LHP Jordan Montgomery from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Montgomery, a fourth-round pick in 2014, will serve as the Yankees fifth starter and will make his major league debut this afternoon against the Rays. The 24-year-old southpaw posted an impressive 2.13 ERA and 134/45 K/BB ratio over 139 1/3 innings last season between three different levels of the minor leagues and could be of interest in AL-only fantasy formats. He’s taking the place of Chasen Shreve on the Yankees’ roster, as Shreve was sent down to the minors yesterday.

Out:

Didi Gregorius, SS: Apr 23 – 9:41 AM New York Daily News/Rotoworld) — Didi Gregorius (shoulder) has gone 2-for-6 at the plate while playing six innings in each game in his first two rehab contests with High-A Tampa.

Working his way back from a right shoulder strain, Gregorius is expected to be activated from the disabled list in early May, assuming all goes well. Ronald Torreyes has been filling in at SS for the Yankees.

Apr 5 – 8:35 AM (ESPN.com/Rotoworld) — Didi Gregorius (shoulder) has begun a throwing program.

Gregorius strained his right shoulder while playing for Team Netherlands at the World Baseball Classic last month. The Yankees are expecting him to miss all of April and perhaps the early part of May. Ronald Torreyes has been filling in at shortstop for the Bronx Bombers.

Apr 2 – 10:13 AM (Rotoworld) — Yankees placed SS Didi Gregorius on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with a right shoulder strain.

Gregorius is currently shut down from baseball activities and is expected to miss all of April after injuring his right shoulder this spring. Ronald Torreyes will be the primary SS in his absence.

Mar 21 – 3:58 PM (Rotoworld) — Didi Gregorius has been shut down for two weeks due to a right shoulder strain.

It could have been worse but obviously Gregorius can be ruled out for Opening Day and Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the shortstop could miss all of April. Tyler Wade or possibly Ronald Torreyes will probably be the primary shortstop for the Yankees to begin the regular season. The club could also consider using Starlin Castro there.

Mar 20 – 11:26 AM (Rotoworld) — Didi Gregorius has left Team Netherlands because of a right shoulder injury.

Gregorius is flying back to Yankees camp in Tampa for more tests today after undergoing a preliminary MRI yesterday. The initial diagnosis is a hematoma of the sub-capsular muscle. There should be more clarity on the situation by tomorrow. Gregorius obviously won’t be suiting up for Team Netherlands against Team Puerto Rico in the WBC semifinals tonight.

Tyler Austin, 1B, OF: Apr 2 – 10:16 AM (Rotoworld) — Yankees placed 1B/OF Tyler Austin on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured left ankle.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Pete Kozma. Austin will miss the first couple months of the season.

Feb 17 – 1:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Tyler Austin will be in a boot for three weeks and shut down from baseball activity for six week after being diagnosed with a small fracture in his foot.

Austin suffered the break when he fouled a ball off the foot while taking batting practice. The 25-year-old might have been squeezed off the roster following the Chris Carter signing and now he’ll begin the season on the disabled list. Austin batted .241/.300/.458 in 31 games for the Yankees last season.

Gary Sanchez, C: Apr 23 – 9:37 AM (New York Daily News/Rotoworld) — Gary Sanchez (biceps) played catch from 90 feet and hit off a tee and took soft toss on yesterday.

“I think everything is going the way we want it to,” Sanchez said through an interpreter. “I don’t have any pain or discomfort.”

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he expected Sanchez to begin hitting on the field soon. Barring any setbacks, Sanchez should return from his biceps injury in about two weeks.

Apr 18 – 4:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Gary Sanchez (biceps) expects to resume throwing tomorrow.

Sanchez has already begun swinging a bat with his left hand as he tries to stay in baseball shape while he works his way through a Grade 1 strain behind his right biceps. The expectation is that he’ll be ready to return to the Yankees’ active roster around early-to-mid May. Austin Romine and Kyle Higashioka will continue to share time behind the plate for the Yankees.

Apr 10 – 4:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Yankees manager Joe Girardi said today that Gary Sanchez is expected to miss four weeks with a Grade 1 strain of a muscle behind his right biceps.

The specific injury is a strain of the right brachialis muscle. Given this sort of timetable, we shouldn’t expect to see Sanchez back until early-to-mid May. The Yankees will go with Austin Romine and Kyle Higashioka behind the plate for the next month.

Apr 8 – 8:40 PM (Rotoworld) — Yankees placed Gary Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list with a right biceps strain.

Sanchez suffered the injury during the fifth inning of today’s loss to the Orioles. Triple-A catcher Kyle Higashioka is already en route to Baltimore and should join the team in time for tomorrow’s series finale. Austin Romine figures to see most of the catching work in Sanchez’s absence. As of now, there’s no timetable for his return.

Apr 8 – 6:26 PM (Rotoworld) — Gary Sanchez has been diagnosed with a right biceps strain.

Sanchez seemed to be in pain after fouling off a pitch in the fifth inning and couldn’t finish the at-bat. It could have been much worse but Sanchez is probably still looking at a stint on the disabled list. Austin Romine will handle the lion’s share of catching duties during his absence, with Kyle Higashioka called up from the minors to serve as his backup. It’s a big downgrade for the Yankees’ offense.

Apr 8 – 5:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Gary Sanchez left today’s game against the Orioles with an apparent right wrist injury.

Sanchez was removed after fouling off a pitch in the fifth inning. Austin Romine finished his at-bat and replaced Sanchez behind the plate. Obviously, it would be a huge loss for both the Yankees if Sanchez is out for any amount of time.

Chasen Shreve, RP: Apr 10 – 4:41 PM (Rotoworld) — Yankees optioned LHP Chasen Shreve to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Shreve was not scored upon in three appearances this season but that wasn’t enough to keep him around. He’ll be back up eventually, though.

Up:

Rene Rivera, C: April 23 – Rene Rivera appears to be moving up a bit in value, starting 8 of the Mets 19 games to date, compared to 10 for Travis D’Arnaud. (Kevin Plawecki started the other game.) Rivera is catching Noah Syndergaard but he’s also getting some other starts, too.

Jay Bruce, OF, 1B: April 23 – With Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores both on the DL, the Mets have turned to Jay Bruce to man 1B. He’s started there the past 4 games, with Curtis Granderson moving from CF to RF and Juan Lagares stepping in to play CF. Altogether, Bruce has started 18 of the team’s 19, games, with 14 of those being in RF.

He’s also seeing most of the action in the cleanup spot, starting there in half of the Mets’ games to date, after spending the first 5 games at either #6 or #7.

Jose Reyes, 3B, SS: April 23 – With David Wright’s continuing health woes, Jose Reyes has solidified his hold on 3B, starting 14 of the Mets’ 19 games there. T.J. Rivera has started 3 and Wilmer Flores 2. Given the situation with Wright, it appears that Reyes may have a steady gig at the hot corner – although his cold start could put him on the hot seat.

Offsetting his steady playing time, Reyes has been moved out of the leadoff spot after starting 6 of the first 7 games there. Since then, he’s seen most of his AB from the #7 slot in the batting order.

Michael Conforto, OF: April 23 – Michael Conforto has begun seeing a bit more action, despite being ranked as the Mets’ fifth OF. Especially with Yoenis Cespedes battling an injury of late and Jay Bruce’s recent move to 1B to fill in for the injured Wilmer Flores and Lucas Duda, the Mets have been forced to give Conforto a regular job in the OF. Overall, he’s started 7 of 19 games, including the last 3 in a row in LF.

Down:

Travis D’Arnaud, C: April 23 – Travis D’Arnaud seems to be losing a little bit of ground to Rene Rivera in the Catcher department. He’s started only 10 of the team’s 19 games at backstop, with Rivera starting 8 games. Kevin Plawecki started the other game.

Curtis Granderson, OF: April 23 – Curtis Granderson seems to have moved from the middle of the batting order to the top. After seeing most of the early action at #4 or #5, he’s started half of the Mets’ past dozen games in the leadoff spot. Over the most recent 3 games, though, he seems to have been shifted back to the middle slots, with Michael Conforto seeing some time at #1.

Addison Reed, Setup, RP, Closer: April 23 — With the April 20 return of Jeurys Familia from the restricted list, Addison Reed will step back into the Setup role from his previous Closer post.

In:

Juan Lagares, OF: Apr 13 – 3:39 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets activated OF Juan Lagares from the 10-day disabled list. RHP Paul Sewald was sent to the minors to make room on the roster.

Lagares went 4-for-11 with a double and a triple on a three-game minor league rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie. He should see starts in CF against LHP in New York.

Apr 11 – 9:12 AM (Rotoworld) — Juan Lagares (oblique) went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and a run scored today in his first minor league rehab game with High-A St. Lucie.

Lagares, who is coming back from an oblique strain, also played five innings in CF. He should only need a handful of games before being cleared to join the Mets. He should see some playing time in center field against LHP.

Apr 5 – 3:46 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets GM Sandy Alderson said Juan Lagares (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday, April 10.

Lagares should only need a handful of at-bats before he’s ready to join the big club. He’ll be a candidate to platoon in center field when healthy.

Apr 2 – 2:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed OF Juan Lagares on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

He’s been working out and should be back in a couple of weeks. Lagares will serve as the Mets’ fourth OF and see some playing time against LHP once he’s healthy.

Mar 31 – 11:54 AM (Rotoworld) — Juan Lagares (oblique) will begin the season on the disabled list.

Lagares has been working out of late but his oblique strain will keep him from making the Opening Day roster. He’ll stay back in extended spring training to continue his rehab but should be ready to go in a couple of weeks.

Mar 28 – 11:42 AM (Rotoworld) — Juan Lagares (oblique) said today that an MRI showed only inflammation.

The Mets have yet to announce anything but it sounds like the injury could have been much worse. Still, the calendar is working against him at this point, so a DL stint remains the most likely scenario.

Mar 25 – 2:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Juan Lagares was forced to leave today’s Grapefruit League contest due to a left oblique strain.

Lagares was sidelined earlier in the spring due to back stiffness and now an oblique issue is likely to put his Opening Day in jeopardy. He’ll undergo an MRI on Monday, March 27. Lagares was expected to serve as the club’s fourth outfielder to start the season.

Jeurys Familia, Closer, RP: Apr 20 – 4:22 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets activated RHP Jeurys Familia from the restricted list.

He’s finished serving a 15-game suspension for violating the league’s domestic violence policy. David Wright was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Familia on the 40-man roster. The right-hander worked two perfect innings during a brief minor league rehab assignment. The Mets have said they’ll ease Familia in but it won’t be long until he’s back pitching the ninth inning. When that happens, interim closer Addison Reed will transition into a setup role.

T.J. Rivera, IF: Apr 21 – 4:10 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets recalled IF T.J. Rivera from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Rivera didn’t spend 10 days in the minors but he can return since he’s replacing a player going on the disabled list. (Both Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores went on the DL today.) He’s starting at 3B today and could potentially earn more time there with Jose Reyes struggling mightily.

Apr 14 – 4:46 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets optioned IF T.J. Rivera to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Mets needed an extra pitcher after Thursday’s marathon game so Rivera will spend 10 days in Triple-A, while Sean Gilmartin joins the big clubs bullpen. He had been 0-for-3 with two walks in four games.

Sean Gilmartin, RP: Apr 21 – 4:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin was sent down just yesterday but returned when the Mets made a couple disabled list moves. He’s expected to work in long relief, although it’s possible he’ll have to make a spot start on Saturday, April 22, if Jacob deGrom (neck) isn’t ready.

Apr 20 – 4:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Mets made a flurry of roster moves today to account for Travis d’Arnaud’s wrist injury and Jeurys Familia’s return from suspension. Gilmartin appeared in just one game before being sent down. Expect the LHP to continue shuttling back and forth between Vegas and Queens.

Apr 14 – 4:47 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas. IF T.J. Rivera was sent to the minors.

Gilmartin can give the Mets some innings if they need them with three relievers unavailable tonight. He gave up three runs over 3 1/3 innings in his one start for Las Vegas.

Kevin Plawecki, C: Apr 20 – 4:27 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets recalled C Kevin Plawecki from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Rafael Montero was sent down in the corresponding roster move. Travis d’Arnaud left Wednesday’s game with a wrist contusion but he’s expected to be available for tomorrow’s series finale against the Phillies. Plawecki holds a .270 average with one homer and seven RBI across 37 at-bats for Las Vegas this season.

Out:

David Wright, 3B: Apr 20 – 4:57 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets transferred David Wright from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The Mets captain has been battling a shoulder impingement since spring training. There’s no timetable for Wright’s return.

Apr 18 – 4:39 PM (Rotoworld) — David Wright (shoulder) is set to begin full baseball activities this week.

He’s already tried some light throwing but the veteran 3B plans to add in fielding drills and batting practice as he works his way through a shoulder impingement and cervical disc irritation. There’s no exact timetable for Wright to join the Mets’ active roster. It’s still going to be a while.

Apr 10 – 5:27 PM (Rotoworld) — David Wright (shoulder) resumed a throwing program on Friday, April 7.

It’s only light tossing for the time being but it’s the first step as he builds up arm strength. Wright was diagnosed with a shoulder impingement in late February and of course is also battling spinal stenosis, which isn’t going away. A timetable for his return remains completely up in the air.

Apr 2 – 2:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed 3B David Wright on the 10-day disabled list with a cervical disc herniation.

Wright also has a shoulder impingement and remains shut down from throwing. His return, and frankly his career, are totally up in the air.

Mar 16 – 8:08 PM (Newsday/Rotoworld) — Mets manager Terry Collins admitted David Wright (shoulder) is unlikely to appear in any more Grapefruit League games.

The Mets employed a DH in games earlier this spring but are now starting to have their pitchers hit. Wright could have been an option at DH but he’s not ready to play the field yet. The injury-prone 3B has advanced to running and fielding grounders but remains without a timetable. He won’t be ready for Opening Day.

Feb 28 – 9:23 AM (Rotoworld) — David Wright won’t throw for “a couple of weeks” after being diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement.

Uh oh. Wright has been limited to DH duty in the early part of the Grapefruit League schedule as he makes his way back from neck surgery. But he apparently felt shoulder soreness in some of his private throwing sessions, so the Mets sent him to New York to get checked out. General manager Sandy Alderson is calling him “questionable” for Opening Day but they clearly can’t count on him avoiding further setbacks. Jose Reyes is poised to have a major role in this lineup this season.

Feb 22 – 9:00 AM (New York Post/Rotoworld) — Mets manager Terry Collins estimated yesterday that David Wright won’t be ready to play the field until around mid-March.

Wright, who is coming back from neck surgery and battling spinal stenosis in his back, played catch yesterday for the second time this spring. He’s going to be eased into action as a DH and in minor league games before testing himself in the field. “He’s making strides,” said Collins. “You’re looking at three weeks from today when we will have a real good idea where he’s at. That gives him a lot of time to lengthen himself out.” It’s ultimately hard to say if he’ll be ready for Opening Day until he really starts ramping things up.

Lucas Duda, 1B: Apr 24 – 12:00 PM (Bergen Record/Rotoworld) — Lucas Duda (elbow) believes he’ll be ready to return from the disabled list when he’s first eligible.

Duda landed on the disabled last week with a hyperextended left elbow. He still needs to get the range of motion in his elbow back but he’s making progress. Jay Bruce has been filling in at 1B in recent days.

Apr 21 – 4:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed 1B Lucas Duda on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a hyperextended left elbow.

Duda hurt the elbow while trying to field a throw on Wednesday, April 19. It’s unclear at this point how much time he’ll miss. With Wilmer Flores also on the DL, Jay Bruce figures to handle first base regularly, clearing space in the lineup for Michael Conforto.

Apr 19 – 8:50 PM (Rotoworld) — Lucas Duda was lifted from today’s game against the Phillies due to a hyperextended left elbow.

Consider the first baseman day-to-day until the Mets offer a more specific update as to a recovery timetable. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Apr 19 – 8:42 PM (Rotoworld) — Lucas Duda left today’s game against the Phillies due to a possible left wrist injury.

Duda appeared to injure his wrist when Cesar Hernandez collided with him after an errant throw by pitcher Robert Gsellman in the top of the fifth. The Mets should pass along a more specific update regarding Duda’s injury in the coming hours.

Wilmer Flores, 3B, 1B, 2B, SS: Apr 21 – 4:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed IF Wilmer Flores on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a joint infection.

It seemed like a day-to-day thing but, evidently, the Mets decided it was bad enough to shut Flores down for a while. It’s possible he’ll be back later this month.

Apr 20 – 4:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Wilmer Flores (infection) is unavailable for today’s game against the Phillies.

Flores is dealing with a joint infection. With Flores down for the count and Lucas Duda battling an elbow injury, Jay Bruce will draw a rare start at 1B. Juan Lagares will serve as a backup IF for the short-handed Mets. For what it’s worth, manager Terry Collins expects Flores back in “a day or two.”

Steven Matz, SP: Apr 18 – 2:03 PM (Rotoworld) — Steven Matz (elbow) is expected to begin a throwing program tomorrow.

This comes after Matz was shut down for three weeks after receiving a PRP injection in his elbow. The injury was originally described as left elbow inflammation, but Matz told reporters earlier this month that he’s dealing with a flexor tendon strain. Either way, he’s still a ways off from joining the Mets. The best-case scenario might be late next month.

Apr 10 – 9:36 AM (Bergen Record/Rotoworld) — Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record writes that Steven Matz took the Mets by surprise by telling reporters last week that he’s dealing with a flexor tendon strain.

“Our [doctors] found nothing wrong,” one person with knowledge of Matz’s care told Klapisch. The thought is that Matz received the diagnosis after seeing a third doctor — outside of the organization — which is his right. The Mets don’t believe that Matz is faking his injury but his health continues to be a concern. The southpaw recently received a platelet-rich plasma injection and the hope is that he’ll be able to return at some point next month.

Apr 3 – 12:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Steven Matz said today that he’s dealing with a flexor tendon strain.

Matz was officially placed on the disabled list yesterday with what was termed as left elbow inflammation. But now we have more specific information about the ailment. The southpaw has been shut down for three weeks after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection and there’s no clear timetable for his return.

Apr 2 – 2:04 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed LHP Steven Matz on the 10-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation.

Matz will be shut down for three weeks after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection. The hope is that he’ll be ready for the beginning of May but that’s up in the air right now.

Mar 30 – 10:23 AM (Rotoworld) — An MRI came back negative on the left elbow of Mets SP Steven Matz.

That’s obviously good news but Matz will be shut down for the next three weeks and projects to miss all of April. He was given a platelet-rich plasma injection Yesterday. Zack Wheeler and Robert Gsellman will round out the Mets’ season-opening starting rotation.

Mar 29 – 3:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Steven Matz (elbow) won’t be ready for the start of the season.

That’s the way it was already trending but now it’s official. Matz has resumed throwing after being scratched from his final Grapefruit League start but he was sent for an MRI today as a follow-up. There could be good news in there but, either way, he won’t be ready for his first turn through the rotation. The Mets have yet to make a final decision between Seth Lugo and Zack Wheeler for the fifth spot. Odds are that Lugo gets the nod.

Mar 26 – 9:37 AM (Rotoworld) — Steven Matz will not make his next scheduled Grapefruit League start due to irritation in his left elbow.

The Mets are adamant that Matz doesn’t have anything structurally wrong but general manager Sandy Alderson admitted that “it’s worrisome that he continues to be injured.” Matz had surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow last October and also had Tommy John surgery a few years back. The LHP won’t undergo an MRI and he’s slated to play catch tomorrow. Even if Matz progresses well over the next week, a disabled list stint would seem to be a distinct possibility, with Seth Lugo then in line to take his place in the Mets’ rotation.

Seth Lugo, SP, RP: Apr 17 – 3:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Seth Lugo (elbow) will begin a throwing program tomorrow.

Lugo was shut down for two weeks after being diagnosed with a “slight” tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will try to rehab the injury. He’ll start out by throwing from 60 feet but obviously he’s a long way off from pitching for the Mets again.

Apr 4 – 1:58 PM (Rotoworld) — According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Seth Lugo (elbow) will have his medicals reviewed by Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday.

Rosenthal describes it as a “standard next step” after Lugo was diagnosed with a “slight” tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Lugo has received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will attempt to go the rest and rehab route. It’s certainly possible he’ll make it back to the Mets this season but there’s no timetable for his return.

Apr 4 – 12:40 PM (Rotoworld) — According to Marc Carig of Newsday, Seth Lugo has a “slight” tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.

Any UCL injury immediately leads to speculation about Tommy John surgery but Carig hears that surgery won’t be needed in Lugo’s case – at least not yet, anyway. Lugo received a platelet-rich plasma injection in the elbow and will now rest for at least a couple of weeks. Suddenly, the Mets’ SP depth looks like a major issue.

Apr 3 – 4:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets manager Terry Collins said today that Seth Lugo (elbow) will be sidelined for “a few weeks.”

Lugo had previously referred to his right elbow issue as “very, very minor” but it sounds like an MRI might have revealed something more serious than initially thought. Lugo had been slated to resume throwing today but it’s safe to assume that didn’t happen. He’s slated to receive a second opinion tomorrow.

Apr 2 – 2:03 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets placed RHP Seth Lugo on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

Lugo doesn’t have any structural damage but he’s felt fatigue so the Mets will pump the brakes here. It’s unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined.

Apr 1 – 3:33 PM (Rotoworld) — Seth Lugo (shoulder) is expected to begin the season on the disabled list.

The RHP underwent an MRI today that revealed no structural damage. It remains to be seen how much time he’ll miss but Rafael Montero is expected to serve as the team’s long reliever in his stead.

Mar 31 – 11:58 AM (Rotoworld) — Seth Lugo is going through a “dead arm” phase and could begin the season on the disabled list.

Lugo threw 26 1/3 innings between the World Baseball Classic and the Grapefruit League and is feeling a bit fatigued. He’ll throw a bullpen session on Sunday, April 2, and whether he’ll be included on the Opening Day roster will depend on how he feels. If Lugo needs a DL stint, Rafael Montero will be carried as the long reliever.

Paul Sewald, RP: Apr 13 – 3:36 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets optioned RHP Paul Sewald to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Sewald allowed two earned runs in 1 1/3 innings (two appearances) out of the Mets’ bullpen. Juan Lagares has been activated from the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.

Apr 7 – 11:55 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets purchased the contract of RHP Paul Sewald from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old RHP nearly cracked the Opening Day bullpen with a strong showing in the spring and will now function as an extra arm to help out a bullpen that has been used heavily in the first few days of the season. He’ll work in middle relief.

Ty Kelly, IF, OF: Apr 10 – 4:38 PM (Rotoworld) — Blue Jays claimed IF/OF Ty Kelly off waivers from the Mets.

Kelly had been designated for assignment. The utility player will provide depth at Triple-A Buffalo.

Apr 7 – 11:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets designated IF/OF Ty Kelly for assignment.

Kelly’s stay as a reserve bat on the Mets’ bench was a brief one. He’ll presumably clear waivers and continue to provide depth at Triple-A.

Rafael Montero, RP: Apr 20 – 4:30 PM (Rotoworld) — Mets optioned RHP Rafael Montero to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Montero is getting the boot after yielding four runs (three earned) in only 1/3 of an inning yesterday in a loss to Philadelphia. That brought his ERA all the way up from 5.68 to 9.45. Clearly the 26-year-old needs more seasoning in the minor leagues. C Kevin Plawecki was called up to take his roster spot.

Up:

Robbie Grossman, DH, OF: April 23 – Robbie Grossman started the year off batting in the #2 slot against LHP and uncertain about his role against RHP. Following a hot start, though, it appears that he’s going to play regularly against both – and from the middle of the batting order, too.

Taylor Rogers, RP, Setup: April 23 – Taylor Rogers seems to have hurdled Ryan Pressly in the competition to serve as the Twins’ Setup man and next in line to Closer Brandon Kintzler.

Down:

Joe Mauer, 1B: April 23 – Joe Mauer appears to have lost a little bit of value. He started the season off batting in the middle of the order and he’ll still see a fair bit of AB there. However, in the last week or so, he’s also started to take some swings from the #2 slot in the batting order.

Byron Buxton, OF: April 23 – After starting the first 4 games of the year in the #3 spot, Byron Buxton has been switched to the bottom of the batting order and, in particular, seems to have settled into the #9 slot, appearing there in 8 of the team’s last 10 games.

Ryan Pressly, RP, Setup: April 23 – Due to a very poor start to the season, Ryan Pressly appears to have slipped further down the Twins’ bullpen depth chart. He started the year as the teams’s Setup man and backup to Closer Brandon Kintzler but he may now be slipping behind Taylor Rogers in those roles and finding himself in a fight with a couple of other hurlers just to see an appropriate number of innings.

In:

Kennys Vargas, 1B, DH: Apr 23 – 9:17 AM (Rotoworld) — Twins recalled 1B/DH Kennys Vargas from Triple-A Rochester.

Vargas was batting .227 with two home runs in the early going with Rochester. He doesn’t figure to see much playing time with Robbie Grossman faring so well in the DH spot.

Out:

Glen Perkins, RP, Closer: Apr 11 – 6:35 PM (Rotoworld) — Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw another 25-pitch bullpen session today.

It was his first time throwing off a mound on two days of rest since last year’s shoulder surgery. If everything continues to go smoothly, the veteran LHP could be an option for the Twins around early-to-mid June.

Apr 2 – 2:20 PM (Rotoworld) — Twins placed LHP Glen Perkins on the 60-day disabled list.

Perkins’ recovery from major shoulder surgery has been going well of late but he still needs time. The hope is that he’ll join the bullpen sometime before the All-Star break.

Mar 19 – 12:55 PM (St. Paul Pioneer Press/Rotoworld) — The Twins have not ruled out putting Glen Perkins (shoulder) on the 60-day disabled list to start the season.

The 10-day DL is viewed as the most likely scenario but the 60-day DL is possible if the club is still unsure about a projected return date. The Twins’ brass is expected to meet soon to discuss Perkins’ situation. The former closer has been throwing the last few weeks without issue and is slated to go through another 20-pitch bullpen session later today.

Feb 18 – 5:18 PM (St. Paul Pioneer Press/Rotoworld) — Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw a successful 15-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

It was his second bullpen since undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in June. Twins manager Paul Molitor estimated that Perkins was throwing at about 75 percent effort. Perkins also took part in fielding drills including throwing to bases. Perkins is making definite progress but is still a long shot for Opening Day and could begin the year on the disabled list.

Feb 14 – 2:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Glen Perkins (shoulder) threw 15 pitches off the mound today.

Perkins was originally expected to throw off a mound last Friday, February 11, but that was scratched after he experienced renewed discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder. Assuming he bounces back okay from today’s session, he’ll do some long tossing on Thursday, February 17. Still, he’s a major question mark for the start of the 2017 season. Brandon Kintzler currently projects to begin the year as Minnesota’s closer.

Feb 9 – 3:38 PM (Rotoworld) — Glen Perkins is experiencing renewed discomfort in his throwing shoulder.

Perkins had been aiming to throw off a mound on Friday, February 11, but that plan was scrapped Thursday after the veteran reliever felt a familiar catch behind his left shoulder while doing flat-ground work. Perkins made only two appearances last season — both in April — and he is obviously now questionable for the beginning of the 2017 campaign. Brandon Kintzler is set to open as the Twins’ closer.

Jan 28 – 5:56 PM (Rotoworld)Glen Perkins (shoulder) is hoping to throw off a mound by Monday, February 7.

The LHP will head to the Twins’ spring training facility on Tuesday, January 31. Perkins has been long-tossing up to 120 feet and seems to be making good progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery. It remains unclear if Perkins will be ready for Opening Day or if he’ll reclaim the closer role from Brandon Kintzler.

Buddy Boshers, RP: Apr 23 – 6:16 PM (Rotoworld) — Twins optioned LHP Buddy Boshers to Triple-A Rochester

The 28-year-old pitched well against the Tigers today, hurling 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief but, because of that, he wouldn’t be available the next few days. The Twins won’t announce a corresponding roster move until tomorrow.

Apr 23 – 9:14 AM (Rotoworld) — Twins recalled LHP Buddy Boshers from Triple-A Rochester.

Boshers had a nice 37/7 K/BB ratio over 36 relief innings for the Twins last season. He’ll be used as a lefty specialist.

Adalberto Mejia, SP: Apr 22 – 8:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Twins optioned LHP Adalberto Mejia, their #5 SP, to Triple-A Rochester.

Mejia has accumulated a mere 9 1/3 innings between his first three starts this season. He has a 5.79 ERA with 10 strikeouts and a scary eight walks. The team has not yet announced who will move into his rotation slot.

Justin Haley, RP: Apr 22 – 9:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Twins placed RHP Justin Haley on the 10-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis.

Haley unintentionally played a major role in Saturday’s game by hitting JaCoby Jones in the face with a pitch. Tigers starter Matt Boyd retaliated later in the game by throwing at Miguel Sano, which cleared the benches and led to a pair of ejections. Somewhere in between these events, Haley must have injured his biceps. The right-hander holds a 4.15 ERA over five outings for the Twins this year.

Ryan O’Rourke, RP: Mar 30 – 9:58 AM (Rotoworld) — Twins placed LHP Ryan O’Rourke on the 10-day disabled list with a left elbow injury.

O’Rourke was diagnosed last week with a flexor mass strain in his throwing elbow. The southpaw is likely to miss most of April.

Mar 21 – 9:44 AM (Rotoworld) — Ryan O’Rourke (elbow) is expected to begin the year on the disabled list.

The good news is that there’s no structural damage in the elbow but O’Rourke is dealing with a strained flexor mass. He’ll be shut down for 10 days before trying to ramp things up.

Byung Ho Park, 1B, DH: Apr 16 – 3:57 PM (Rotoworld) — Byung Ho Park (hamstring) will head to the Twins’ spring training facilities soon to begin workouts.

Park was placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list on Tuesday, April 11, with a right hamstring strain. It’s a milder strain and he should be back to playing in games for Triple-A Rochester sometime next week.

Apr 11 – 11:44 AM (Rotoworld) — Byung Ho Park has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Rochester due to a right hamstring strain.

It’s unclear how much time he’ll need to miss. Park failed to make the Twins’ Opening Day roster despite a huge spring and was hitting .375 (6-for-16) with three doubles and three RBI through his first four games with Rochester.

Mar 30 – 9:04 AM (Rotoworld) — Twins assigned 1B/DH Byung Ho Park to minor league camp.

Park did everything in his power to make the Opening Day roster this spring, batting .353 with a 1.159 OPS and six home runs over 51 at-bats in Grapefruit League play. For reasons that aren’t quite clear, the Twins will head north without their best DH option.

Up:

Eric Thames, 1B, OF: April 22 – Although he started only 3 of the Brewers first 8 games at 1B (and 2 games in the OF), Eric Thames’ hot bat has catapulted him into a lock on the Brewers’ 1B job. Since then, he’s started all 11 games at 1B, including those against LHP which were originally being handled by Jesus Aguilar.

Jeff Bandy, C: April 22 — On one hand, Jeff Bandy is seeing more playing time at C given Andrew Susac’s injury and, more recently, his assignment to the minors. On the other hand, Manny Pina’s hot start has probably reduced Bandy’s playing time to some extent. Bandy has only started 11 of the team’s 19 games and appears to be settling into a pattern where he catches Chase Anderson and Zach Davies, while Pina partners with Wily Peralta and Jimmy Nelson. They’ve split Tommy Milone’s two starts to date.

Manny Pina, C: April 22 – Andrew Susac’s injury gave Manny Pina a chance to make the Brewers as a backup to Jeff Bandy but Pina’s hot start may see the two catchers sharing the duties. To date, Pina has started 8 of the team’s 19 games. Lately, a pattern seems to be developing where Pina partners with Wily Peralta and Jimmy Nelson and Bandy catches Chase Anderson and Zach Davies. It’s a bit early to tell what the team will do in relation to Tommy Milone, as both Pina and Bandy have caught one of his starts.

Jacob Barnes, RP: April 22 – Jacob Barnes seems to be pushing his way a little higher into the Brewers’ bullpen rankings, racking up 5 Save Situations and 4 Holds. In that, he trails only Carlos Torres and Cory Knebel by 1 in each category. He’s also pitched in 10.3 innings to rank second in the bullpen behind only Torres.

Jhan Marinez, RP: April 22 – While he’s probably fourth in the bullpen depth chart, Jhan Martinez is edging up, with 3 Save Situations and 3 Holds to date. He isn’t too far behind the top three supporting Closer Neftali Feliz – Carlos Torres, Cory Knebel and Jacob Barnes. He also ranks fourth in IP among the bullpen contingent.

Tommy Milone, SP, RP: April 22 – Junior Guerra’s injury in the season opener provided an opening for Tommy Milone, who was moved from the bullpen to the rotation. He’s made 2 starts in the time since and seems to be holding his own with most of the rotation – and out-pitching Zach Davies, for that matter. With Guerra out for another 3 or 4 weeks, he would normally expect to have plenty of time to show what he can do. However, Matt Garza is set to return from the DL in the next few days and will probably leapfrog Milone in the depth charts. With Davies’ troubles, though, there’s a chance that Davies, rather than Milone, will be the one moved to the bullpen.

Down:

Jesus Aguilar, 1B: April 22 – Despite torrid production in Spring Training, Jesus Aguilar was expected to platoon with Eric Thames at 1B, getting the short end of the stick by starting primarily against LHP. However, Thames has been the talk of baseball since the season opened and lately has even been starting against LHP. As a result, while Aguilar started 5 of the Brewers’ first 8 games, he hasn’t started any of the last 11.

In:

Brent Suter, RP: Apr 21 – 3:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers recalled LHP Brent Suter from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Brewers needed a reinforcement for their bullpen. Suter will work in long relief. The roster opening occurred when CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis was designated for assignment.

Apr 8 – 11:15 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers optioned LHP Brent Suter to Triple-A Colorado Springs. RHP David Goforth has been called up to take Suter’s spot in the Brewers’ bullpen.

Apr 4 – 2:28 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers recalled LHP Brent Suter from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He’ll replace the injured Junior Guerra (calf) on the active roster. With Tommy Milone expected to move into the rotation, Suter will give the Brewers a lefty for their bullpen.

Nick Franklin, 1B, 2B, SS, LF, RF: Apr 5 – 2:22 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers claimed INF/OF Nick Franklin off waivers from the Rays.

In a surprise move, the Rays designated Franklin for assignment at the conclusion of spring training. The 26-year-old has had an underwhelming career to this point but has value as a jack-of-all-trades who can play all over the diamond. Last year he made starts at first base, second base, shortstop and both corner outfield positions. The Brewers created a roster spot for Franklin by designating RHP Michael Blazek for assignment.

Oliver Drake, RP: Apr 14 – 8:27 AM (Rotoworld) — Brewers acquired RHP Oliver Drake from the Orioles for cash or a player to be named later.

This comes mere hours after the Orioles designated Drake for assignment. The 30-year-old right-hander has spent the last few years seesawing between Baltimore and the minor leagues. He carries a career 3.89 ERA over 37 major league innings, all with the Orioles.

To make a spot on their roster for Drake, the Brewers designated RP David Goforth for assignment.

Out:

Junior Guerra, SP: Apr 4 – 5:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers manager Craig Counsell said today that Junior Guerra (calf) will be out “at least six weeks.”

Guerra put his own timetable at 4-6 weeks in a chat with the media earlier today but the MRI results showed a “significant” strain of his right calf, per Counsell. Tommy Milone will move into the Brewers’ rotation.

Apr 4 – 4:48 PM (Rotoworld) — Junior Guerra (calf) said today that he expects to miss 4-6 weeks.

But the RHP underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning and those results will paint a clearer picture of his recovery timetable.

Apr 3 – 5:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Junior Guerra (calf) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list. Brent Suter will be called up from the minors to take his spot on the Brewers’ roster.

Guerra strained his right calf while running out a bunt on Monday. He was getting around on crutches in the clubhouse after the game and Brewers manager Craig Counsell said it would be more than a 10-day absence for the right-hander. Tommy Milone would seem to be an obvious candidate to take Guerra’s spot in the rotation.

Apr 3 – 3:13 PM (Rotoworld) — Junior Guerra exited today’s Opening Day start against the Rockies after just three innings with a right calf strain.

Guerra limped off the field after attempting a bunt in the bottom of the third inning. He allowed two runs over three innings before being replaced by Tommy Milone. This has the potential to be an injury which requires a stint on the disabled list but there should be more clarity soon.

Matt Garza, SP: Apr 21 – 5:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Matt Garza (groin) will make his season debut on Monday, April 24,  against the Reds.

Tommy Milone is headed back to the Brewers’ bullpen.

Apr 20 – 6:22 PM (Rotoworld) – Matt Garza made a second rehab start Monday, April 17, and Brewers manager Craig Counsell confirmed today that he’ll be activated from the disabled list “in the coming days.”

Garza landed on the DL with a strained groin he suffered late in spring training but is trending toward 100 percent. Counsell was noncommittal about what role Garza will play when he’s finally activated.

Apr 13 – 5:06 PM (Rotoworld) Matt Garza (groin) looked sharp in his first rehab start yesterday, allowing just one run on two hits against Memphis.

He’ll make another rehab start on Monday, April 17, for Triple-A Colorado Springs. After that, Garza should be ready to rejoin Milwaukee’s starting rotation.

Apr 7 – 4:37 PM (Rotoworld) — Matt Garza (groin) threw a simulated game today.

Assuming he comes out of it with no issues, he’s slated to make rehab starts on April 12 and 17. Garza should be ready to rejoin the Brewers’ rotation after that. He’s needed, especially after Junior Guerra (calf) went down.

Apr 4 – 5:22 PM (Rotoworld) — Matt Garza (groin) is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

The hope is that he’ll only need two rehab starts before joining the Brewers’ rotation. Garza landed on the 10-day disabled list at the end of spring training because of a right groin strain.

Mar 30 – 6:37 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers placed RHP Matt Garza on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right groin.

Garza had been scheduled to pitch on Friday, March 31, against the White Sox. Manager Craig Counsell said he’s hoping Garza will resume throwing at some point in April before going out on a minor league rehab assignment.

Andrew Susac, C: Apr 15 – 10:19 AM (Rotoworld) — Brewers activated C Andrew Susac from the 10-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

With Manny Pina knocking the cover off of the ball, the Brewers will roll with him and Jett Bandy behind the plate for now and give Susac some extra time to get back into the swing of things.

Apr 13 – 11:50 AM (Milwaukee Brewers/Rotoworld) — Andrew Susac (trapezius) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment today with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Susac should be ready to join the Brewers early next week. The 27-year-old catcher came down with tightness in his trapezius in the middle of spring training and didn’t appear in a Cactus League game after March 13.

Mar 31 – 6:48 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers placed C Andrew Susac on the 10-day disabled list with a trapezius tightness.

The Brewers will enter the season with some combination of Jett Bandy and Manny Pina handling the catching duties until Susac is ready to return. He’s expected to be ready to rejoin the Brewers in mid-April.

Mar 28 – 11:21 AM (Rotoworld) — Andrew Susac (back) is expected to be cleared for some baseball activities.

Susac has been bothered by some discomfort around his trapezius muscle for a couple of weeks now but a recent MRI came back negative. While he’s making some progress, he’s not ready for game action and a stint on the disabled list appears likely.

Mar 24 – 12:54 PM (Rotoworld) — An MRI on Andrew Susac’s injured trapezius came back negative.

Susac will be allowed to ramp up his rehab now but he’s still going to begin the season on the disabled list.

Mar 23 – 1:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Andrew Susac has flown to Milwaukee to undergo additional tests on his neck and back.

There is expected to be an update from the Brewers tomorrow morning. Susac has been bothered for weeks by discomfort around his trapezius muscle and it’s simply not getting any better. Manny Pina and Jett Bandy figure to open the 2017 season as the Brewers’ two active catchers.

Mar 18 – 7:42 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Andrew Susac (trap) will be out at least through to Monday, March 20.

Trap tightness has kept him out for the past week. At this point, it doesn’t look like Susac is in jeopardy of missing Opening Day. He’s battling Jett Bandy and Manny Pina for the starting job at C.

Mar 15 – 2:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers manager Craig Counsell said today that Andrew Susac (neck) will probably miss a few days.

Susac was scratched from yesterday’s lineup due to neck stiffness and will require some additional rest. The Brewers can afford to be patient with him.

Mar 14 – 3:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Andrew Susac was scratched from today’s Cactus League lineup due to neck stiffness.

Rene Garcia will start behind the plate instead. Consider Susac day-to-day for now.

Taylor Jungmann, RP: Apr 6 – 5:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers optioned RHP Taylor Jungmann to Double-A Biloxi.

The Brewers were stashing eight RP in their pen and needed to clear a roster spot for Nick Franklin, who was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay. Jungmann struggled in his season debut on April 5 against Colorado, yielding one runs, one walk and two hits in just 2/3 of an inning. The Brewers plan to stretch him out as a SP in the minor leagues.

Damien Magnifico, RP: Apr 14 – 8:29 AM (Rotoworld) — Orioles acquired RHP Damien Magnifico from the Brewers in exchange for the No. 15 international signing bonus slot.

Magnifico had been designated for assignment on April 9. He has control issues but he’s an intriguing relief arm.

Apr 9 – 11:07 AM (Rotoworld) — Brewers designated RHP Damien Magnifico for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for David Goforth. Magnifico has a big arm and could draw some interest on waivers.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis, CF: Apr 23 – 7:39 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers sent OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The 29-year-old was waived earlier this week after slashing a putrid .080/.233/.240 in his first 30 PA. It’s a bit surprising that no other teams were willing to take a shot on him. He’ll continue to function as minor league OF depth for the Brewers.

Apr 21 – 3:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Brewers designated OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis for assignment.

Nieuwenhuis had just two hits in his first 25 AB and it cost him his roster spot. He’s making about twice the major league minimum, which could be a factor as the Brewers try to pass him through waivers.

David Goforth, RP: Apr 14 – 8:53 AM (Rotoworld) Brewers designated RHP David Goforth for assignment.

Goforth was only in the big leagues for four days. His lone appearance came Sunday, April 9, when he tossed a scoreless inning against the Cubs. Because Goforth has been designated for assignment before (it happened just a few weeks ago), he can choose to become a free agent if he clears waivers.

He became expendable when the Brewers traded for RHP Oliver Drake.

Apr 9 – 11:09 AM (Rotoworld) — Brewers purchased the contract of RHP David Goforth from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Gorforth lost his 40-man roster spot over the winter but has gotten it back. Goforth will take the place of Brent Suter on the Brewers’ roster, with Suter returning to the minors. Suter, in turn, was taking Junior Guerra’s place.

Up:

Kyle Barraclough, RP: April 21 – Kyle Barraclough could be taking over the Setup role from Brad Ziegler or, at the very least, sharing those duties. Both of them have 3 Holds to date.

Down:

Miguel Rojas, 3B, SS: April 21 – Miguel Rojas started 7 games at SS during Adeiny Hechavarria’s 10-day stint on the DL but, with Hechavarria back in the lineup, he should see his playing time diminish significantly in the future.

Derek Dietrich, 3B: April 17 – With the return of Martin Prado from the DL, Derek Dietrich will move back to his originally-slated role of utility IF.

Martin Prado, 3B: April 21 – Having been out of action for most of the first three weeks of the season, it should come as no surprise that Martin Prado has not seen a lot of playing time at 3B. In fact, he’s only started 3 of the Marlins’ 16 games.

However, that should change significantly in the next few weeks as he re-asserts his role as the primary Marlin at the hot corner.

Adeiny Hechavarria, SS: April 21 – Having missed 10 days with a left oblique strain, Adeiny Hechavarria’s share of playing time at SS has declined significantly. To date, he’s started only 6 of the Marlins’ 16 games, with Miguel Rojas starting 7 and J.T. Riddle 3. Things should get back to normal quickly, though, and Riddle has been sent back to the minors.

Brad Ziegler, RP: April 21 – Brad Ziegler could be dropping a bit of the Setup responsibilities to Kyle Barraclough. Both have 3 Holds to date.

Ichiro Suzuki, OF: April 21 – As the fourth OF, Ichiro Suzuki has not seen much action to date. He’s started only 4 of the Marlins’ 16 games.

In:

Martin Prado, 3B: Apr 17 – 3:43 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins activated 3B Martin Prado from the 10-day disabled list.

Prado, who began the year on the DL with a right hamstring strain, went 3-for-9 (.333) with three walks during a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter. Derek Dietrich will slide into a utility role now that Prado is back to full health and Tyler Moore will head for the minors.

Apr 11 – 3:33 PM (Rotoworld) — Martin Prado (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with High-A Jupiter.

Prado was forced to begin the season on the disabled list after straining his right hamstring during the World Baseball Classic. If all goes well over the next few days, he could be activated as soon as this weekend. Derek Dietrich will continue to fill in at the hot corner for now.

Apr 2 – 11:46 AM (Rotoworld) — Marlins placed 3B Martin Prado on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with a strained right hamstring.

Prado suffered the injury a couple weeks ago during the World Baseball Classic. There’s no timetable for his return but he should be back before the end of April. Derek Dietrich will fill in at 3B in the meantime.

Mar 19 – 8:17 AM (Rotoworld) — Martin Prado will not be ready for Opening Day after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.

In addition to the strained hammy, Prado is also dealing with some discomfort in his right calf. The infielder suffered the injuries last Wednesday, March 15, during a World Baseball Classic matchup against the United States. While the news could have been worse, Prado will need a stint on the disabled list to start the season. Derek Dietrich will fill in for him at 3B.

Mar 15 – 11:21 PM (Rotoworld) — Martin Prado left today’s World Baseball Classic game between the United States and Venezuela due to a right hamstring injury.

Prado suffered the hamstring injury in the middle innings of the contest. With just two weeks remaining until the start of the regular season, this is inopportune timing, to say the least. There is no current timetable for his return to action but that should be clarified in the next few days. Given the notorious nature of hamstring injuries, his availability for Opening Day could be in danger. Should he miss time in the regular season, Derek Dietrich could see expanded playing time.

Adeiny Hechavarria, SS: Apr 20 – 6:12 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins activated SS Adeiny Hechavarria from the 10-day disabled list.

Hechavarria is back after missing time with a strained oblique. J.T. Riddle has been optioned to Triple-A New Orleans in the corresponding roster move.

Apr 18 – 6:48 PM (Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp/Rotoworld) — Adeiny Hechavarria (oblique) has joined Double-A Jacksonville for a rehab assignment.

Hechavarria should be ready to rejoin the Marlins this weekend if he can avoid setbacks. The shortstop landed on the 10-day disabled list April 9 with a left oblique strain.

Apr 9 – 2:06 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins placed SS Adeiny Hechavarria on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

It’s unclear when Hechavarria was injured but oblique injuries typically sideline players for more than the minimum stay on the DL. J.T. Riddle has been recalled to take his roster spot and he figures to share shortstop with Miguel Rojas for a few weeks.

Jarlin García, RP: Apr 14 – 11:28 AM (Rotoworld) — Marlins recalled LHP Jarlin Garcia from Double-A Jacksonville.

The Marlins need a fresh relief arm after yesterday’s 16-inning game versus the Mets. Garcia, 24, was called up to the majors last season but didn’t make an appearance. He’ll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Matt Wittgren was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Out:

Jeff Locke, SP, RP: Apr 2 – 11:45 AM (Rotoworld) — Marlins placed LHP Jeff Locke on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with left biceps tendinitis.

Locke missed all of spring training with the injury. He’s on a throwing program but there’s no timetable for his return.

Mar 10 – 10:13 AM (Rotoworld) — Marlins manager Don Mattingly indicated today that Jeff Locke (biceps) will begin the season on the disabled list.

Locke has been dealing with biceps tendinitis for nearly three weeks and, although he’s resumed throwing, he’s just not going to have enough time to get ready in time for the opener. The LHP was shooting for a spot in the starting rotation but he may have ended up in a long relief role even if he was healthy.

Mar 6 – 4:59 PM (South Florida Sun-Sentinel/Rotoworld) —  Jeff Locke (biceps) played catch on both Saturday, March 4, and today.

It went off without a hitch and it sounds like Locke will probably resume throwing from a mound soon. “We’re hoping we’re over the hump and on a progression now,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. Locke looks to be trending in the right direction now but he would still appear to be a question mark for Opening Day.

Feb 25 – 11:50 AM (MLB.com/Rotoworld) — Jeff Locke had an MRI yesterday and it revealed no structural damage.

While that’s encouraging news, the LHP will be shut down from throwing for the next seven days. The more time that he misses this spring, the harder his chances will be of securing a spot in the club’s Opening Day rotation.

Feb 23 – 5:18 PM (Marlins.mlb.com/Rotoworld) —  Jeff Locke (biceps) threw 15-20 light tosses from 60 feet today.

It was Locke’s first time throwing since encountering biceps tendinitis over the weekend. Locke said he feels “a lot better” but still isn’t 100 percent. It’s unclear when he’ll resume mound work or begin facing live hitters.

Feb 20 – 9:53 AM (Rotoworld) — Jeff Locke has been shut down for a few days due to biceps tendinitis.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said it’s not a big concern and Locke should resume throwing sometime this week. The LHP is competing for a spot in the season-opening starting rotation.

Tyler Moore, 1B, OF: Apr 21 – 5:54 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins sent 1B/OF Tyler Moore outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

Moore had been designated for assignment but he cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. He’ll represent depth.

Apr 17 – 3:46 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins designated 1B/OF Tyler Moore for assignment.

The move clears the way for Martin Prado’s return from the disabled list. Moore, who made the Opening Day roster out of spring training, was 4-for-11 (.364) with a double to begin the year.

J.T. Riddle, SS: Apr 20 – 6:16 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins optioned SS J.T. Riddle to Triple-A New Orleans.

Riddle spent a little over a week in the majors while Adeiny Hechavarria was out with an oblique strain. He’s no longer needed with Hechavarria back at full strength.

Apr 9 – 2:08 PM (Rotoworld) — Marlins recalled SS J.T. Riddle from Triple-A New Orleans.

Ranked by MLB.com as the team’s No. 12 prospect, Riddle batted .276/.326/.366 with four homers between Double- and Triple-A in 2016 before being added to the 40-man roster over the winter. He should share starts at shortstop with Miguel Rojas while Adeiny Hechavarria (oblique) is sidelined and will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Nick Wittgren, RP: Apr 14 – 8:21 AM (Rotoworld) — Marlins optioned RHP Nick Wittgren to Triple-A New Orleans.

Wittgren threw three shutout innings in yesterday’s marathon loss to the Mets, so the club needs to get a fresh arm added to the bullpen. Jarlin Garcia has been called up to take his place in the bullpen.

Up:

Chase Utley, 2B: April 19 With Logan Forsythe being placed on the DL today, Chase Utley will probably see most of the playing time at 2B, although recent call-up Chris Taylor may spend some time there, too. Utley had been getting about 25% of the starts at 2B prior to Forsythe’s injury. Forsythe is expected to miss about two weeks.

Enrique Hernandez, OF, 3B: April 19 – Initially, with Andre Ethier out, LF for the Dodgers was going to be a platoon between Franklin Gutierrez and Andrew Toles, with Gutierrez handling the soft side of that against LHP. When Gutierrez went on the DL on April 12, however, Hernandez took over that role, meaning that he’s started 3 of the team’s last 7 games in LF to go along with his work in CF and 1 start each at 3B and SS. Overall, he’s started 8 of the Dodgers’ 16 games. He can also play 2B and, although he hasn’t started there yet this year, he’s seen some action there in 2 games.

Yasiel Puig, OF: April 19 – Coming off last year’s experience, Yasiel Puig was expected to bat low in the Dodgers’ batting order and split time in the OF with Andrew Toles, Scott van Slyke, Franklin Gutierrez and others. However, he’s started every day in RF and seems to be receiving more ABs in the middle of the order in the last little while. For example, he’s started 5 games at cleanup, 3 in the #5 slot and 1 in the three spot.

Alex Wood, SP, RP: April 19 – With Rich Hill’s continuing blister problems, Alex Wood will probably take his spot in the Dodgers’ rotation while Hill is on the DL. Wood took Hill’s spot during an earlier absence and will probably do so again for the foreseeable future. However, he’ll have to deliver, as Ross Stripling could move over from the bullpen and, eventually, Julio Urias should arrive from the minors.

Down:

Joc Pederson, OF: April 19 Even though he’s the Dodgers’ main CF, Joc Pederson is still not seeing much time against LHP. As a result, he’s started just 10 of the team’s 16 games, with Enrique Hernandez starting 3 games and Trayce Thompson 2 during his brief stint with the parent club. Newcomer Brett Eibner has started 1 game in CF.

Adrian Gonzalez, 1B: April 19 – Although Adrian Gonzalez has started 13 of the Dodgers’ 15 games at 1B, he’s seen his spot in the batting order diminished a bit. Expected to bat fourth or third, Gonzalez has only started in the cleanup spot in half of the team’s 16 games, with his other starts coming in the #5 slot (1) and the #6 slot (4).

Sergio Romo, RP: April 14 – With Pedro Baez’s return from the DL, Sergio Romo will probably drop back one spot in the Dodgers’ depth chart, ceding the setup role to Baez.

In:

Brett Eibner, OF: Apr 19 – 7:44 PM (Rotoworld) Dodgers recalled OF Brett Eibner from Triple-A Oklahoma City, as both he and Chris Taylor will fill in for the injured pair of Logan Forsythe and Rob Segedin who were both placed on the 10-day DL earlier today (ironically, with both of them suffering injured big toes on their right feet).

Eibner will be tossed into the fire immediately, as he draws a start in CF against the Rockies in today’s game. The 28-year-old OF will hit seventh in the contest. Prior to receiving the call to the bigs, Eibner was hitting a blistering .344/.389/.656 with three home runs, eight RBI and eight runs scored in 12 games played at Triple-A.

Chris Taylor, 3B, OF: Apr 19 – 10:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers recalled 3B/OF Chris Taylor from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers placed both Logan Forsythe and Rob Segedin on the 10-day DL earlier today and Taylor receives the call to the bigs to help fortify the team’s infield depth. In 61 at-bats between the Mariners and Dodgers in 2016, the 26-year-old slashed .213/.262/.361 with 1 HR and 7 RBI.

Pedro Baez, RP: Apr 14 – 6:27 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers activated RHP Pedro Baez from the 10-day disabled list.

He’ll return to his role in the setup corps trying to get the ball to closer Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning. Baez suffered a thumb injury early in the spring but has looked good on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City and the injury shouldn’t be an issue going forward.

Apr 9 – 1:12 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) is expected to make another rehab appearance before being activated from the disabled list.

Baez allowed two runs over two-thirds of an inning at Triple-A Oklahoma City on yesterday and evidently the Dodgers want him to sharpen up a little more before he rejoins their bullpen. He’ll work in a setup role once activated.

Apr 7 – 12:49 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City today.

It sounds like he will probably need just the one appearance before rejoining the Dodgers’ bullpen. Baez didn’t make any Cactus League appearances after being hit on the right thumb by a comebacker in late February but he’s been throwing off a mound for a few weeks.

Apr 2 – 1:01 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed RHP Pedro Baez on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb injury.

He’s been dealing with it for a while, although he did pitch in a game yesterday. Baez should return when eligible.

Apr 1 – 7:55 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) pitched in a Triple-A game today.

Baez bruised his thumb about a month ago but has progressed nicely in recent days and could be ready to join the team as soon as he’s eligible in 10 days. When healthy, he’ll occupy a setup role ahead of ace closer Kenley Jansen.

Mar 26 – 1:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) will face hitters on tomorrow.

It will be a nice step but Baez still hasn’t pitched in a game this spring due to a nagging right thumb injury. He’s probably going to begin the season on the disabled list.

Mar 19 – 8:07 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) threw a successful bullpen session today.

It’s the first bullpen session for the RHP since suffering a bruised thumb last month. Expect him to repeat the process in the next few days before being cleared to face live hitters. He’s still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Mar 10 – 6:05 PM (Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez (thumb) will resume throwing today.

Baez had to undergo further testing of his nagging right thumb injury but, apparently, nothing serious came up. He should be cleared to return to games before long, assuming he doesn’t have another setback.

Feb 27 – 12:01 PM (Rotoworld) — An exam showed no structural damage in the right thumb of Pedro Baez.

Baez was struck in the thumb by a comebacker during a round of live batting practice last week in Arizona. He hasn’t resumed throwing yet but this bruise shouldn’t linger too far into March. The RHP is projected to serve as a setup man this year for the Dodgers.

Feb 26 – 4:11 PM (Dodgers.mlb.com/Rotoworld) — Pedro Baez missed his scheduled bullpen session yesterday and will be out for a few more days as he’s dealing with a bruised right thumb.

Baez sustained the injury when he took a comebacker off of his thumb during a live batting practice session earlier in the week. He has already resumed playing catch at half speed and should be ready for a return to game action by the end of next week.

Josh Fields, RP: Apr 18 – 8:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers recalled RHP Josh Fields from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Fields is back in the bigs to fill in for setup man Grant Dayton, who suffered an intercostal strain on yesterday. Fields has thrown three scoreless innings with six strikeouts this year in the major leagues.

Apr 14 – 6:35 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers optioned RHP Josh Fields to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The RHP was holding down a spot in the bullpen while Pedro Baez was on the disabled list but the Dodgers activated Baez today. Fields pitched well in his four games with the Dodgers, hurling three shutout innings while striking out six. He should get another chance with the big league club soon.

Apr 7 – 2:06 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers recalled RHP Josh Fields from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Fields struggled this spring and his velocity was down but he’s getting an early promotion anyway, taking the roster spot of the injured Rich Hill. Don’t count on him being used in high-leverage situations, however.

Out:

Rob Segedin, IF: Apr 19 – 7:23 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed IF Rob Segedin on the 10-day disabled list with a right big toe strain.

Segedin was just called up on Monday, April 17, when SP Rich Hill was put back on the DL. But now he’s been shuttled off to the DL just two days into his stay in the bigs. There is no current timetable for his return. This counts as a depth blow for the Dodgers, as Segedin was expected to receive his fair share of starts against southpaws. Chris Taylor has been called up from the minors to take his roster spot.

Apr 17 – 6:54 PM — Dodgers recalled IF Rob Segedin from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Segedin will get some starts against lefties. He’s at 1B today versus southpaw Robbie Ray.

Logan Forsythe, 2B: Apr 19 – 7:19 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed 2B Logan Forsythe on the 10-day disabled list with a right big toe fracture.

Forsythe was hit on the toe by a pitch during the April 18 game against the Rockies. He was initially diagnosed with a toe contusion but, upon further examination, it has been determined that he sustained a fracture. He’s expected to miss around two weeks. With his sidelining, Chase Utley figures to see an increase in at-bats, with manager Dave Roberts saying that he will receive the bulk of those against right-handed starters.

Apr 19 – 1:53 AM (Rotoworld) — X-rays on Logan Forsythe’s toe were deemed inconclusive after he left yesterday’s game with a contusion. The Dodgers have Chase Utley available to step in at second base.

Apr 18 – 11:34 PM (Rotoworld) — Logan Forsythe has been diagnosed with a right toe contusion.

Forsythe was struck on the foot by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the first inning Tuesday. He’s also been working through some right hamstring discomfort, so the Dodgers opted to play it safe. Consider the 2B day-to-day. Enrique Hernandez took over at 2B against the Rockies.

Apr 18 – 11:14 PM (Rotoworld) — Logan Forsythe was removed from today’s game against the Rockies with an apparent foot injury.

Forsythe was hit by a pitch on his right foot in the bottom of the first inning, though he remained in the game until the bottom of the third. The second baseman has dealt with foot problems in the past and he just missed a game with a sore right hamstring.

Andre Ethier, OF: Apr 2 – 12:59 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed OF Andre Ethier on the 10-day disabled list with a back injury.

It’s an injury that Ethier has dealt with for a while, although it’s not expected to be a long-term thing. Andrew Toles will cover left field while Ethier is out.

Mar 25 – 8:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier (back) won’t resume baseball activities until the first week of April.

The decision was made after Ethier met with a back specialist today. Ethier will obviously open the year on the disabled list but manager Dave Roberts said he doesn’t anticipate the injury being a “6-8 week thing.” The injury-prone Ethier was limited to just 16 games last season and is now facing another extended absence.

Mar 21 – 12:55 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier has been diagnosed with a mild herniation of a disk in his back.

Ethier recently dealt with a hip issue but he was scratched from the lineup on Sunday, March 19, due to tightness in his back. He received an epidural on Monday and will be shut down for 7-10 days. There’s no clear timetable for his return but it’s believed to not be as serious as what staff ace Clayton Kershaw dealt with last year. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hasn’t ruled him out for Opening Day quite yet but it looks unrealistic at this point.

Mar 19 – 7:47 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier was scratched from the Dodgers’ Cactus League lineup due to tightness in his back.

The severity of the injury is unclear but he’s heading for an MRI in the next day or two. At this point, his status for the start of the regular season is up in the air.

Mar 18 – 12:26 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier (hip) returned to the Dodgers’ Cactus League lineup on Saturday, March 18.

It’s the first time he has played since March 6 due to a nagging hip issue. He’s expected to begin the season in a platoon role, finding ABs in both corner OF spots against RHP.

Mar 13 – 1:18 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier (hip) was able to take grounders at first base today.

That’s a big step for the veteran outfielder who’s been bothered by hip and back discomfort for the last week. Ethier is aiming to return to Cactus League action within the next few days. He was 4-for-9 with six walks through six games this spring but has been absent from the Dodgers’ lineup since March 6.

Mar 10 – 6:03 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier (hip) could return to game action as soon as Sunday, March 12.

Ethier had been dealing with what was classified as a back injury but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said today that it’s actually a spasm near the outfielder’s hip. Either way, he should ultimately be fine.

Mar 6 – 4:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Andre Ethier exited Monday’s Cactus League contest with back soreness.

Ethier said his back felt a little sore while he was running, so he pulled himself out of the game. The Dodgers OF expects to be ready to play tomorrow.

Franklin Gutierrez, OF: Apr 18 – 7:30 PM (Rotoworld) — Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) is scheduled to play in a rehab game with High A Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, April 22.

If that rehab game goes well, the veteran OF could rejoin the Dodgers next Monday, April 24, in San Francisco. Gutierrez was placed on the 10-day disabled list April 12 with a left hamstring strain, after going 3-for-13 over his first six regular-season games.

Apr 12 – 4:21 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed OF Franklin Gutierrez on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Gutierrez initially strained his hamstring on April 10 while running the bases against the Cubs. There is no current timetable for his return, although Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Gutierrez’s hamstring injury will take between one and three weeks to heal.

Roberts called the one-week timetable the best-case scenario, with the three-week timetable standing as the worst-case scenario. With Gutierrez hitting the disabled list, the Dodgers are calling up Trayce Thompson to pad out their OF depth.

Apr 10 – 10:33 PM (Rotoworld) — Franklin Gutierrez was lifted from the Dodgers’ game against the Cubs on Monday, April 10, with a left hamstring injury.

Gutierrez was gunned down at second base on a failed hit-and-run in the second inning and evidently must have tweaked his hammy in the process. The severity isn’t known at this point but, given Gutierrez’s injury history, it’s hard to be optimistic.

Trayce Thompson, OF: Apr 16 – 2:19 PM (Rotoworld) –Dodgers optioned OF Trayce Thompson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The move clears a spot on the Dodgers’ active roster for Rich Hill, who is returning from a blister to start in today’s game versus the Diamondbacks. Thompson was only up for a couple of days and went 0-for-8 with three Ks.

Apr 12 – 4:26 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers recalled OF Trayce Thompson from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Thompson earns the call to the bigs to help fill in for Franklin Gutierrez, who just hit the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. In 236 ABs last season, the 26-year-old OF hit .225/.302/.436 with 13 homers and 32 RBI. It’s difficult to say how much playing time he’ll receive.

Rich Hill, SP: Apr 17 – 6:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed LHP Rich Hill on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his left middle finger.

It’s already the second time this season that a blister issue has forced him to the DL. Hill is still throwing but doing so with a band-aid on his finger. However, manager Dave Roberts said the club is considering shutting down the LHP for a while. The skipper has also indicated that the team could consider moving Hill to the bullpen if they figure out there’s a pitch limit he can tolerate before the blister flares up. However, we’re not at that stage just yet. Alex Wood will replace Hill in the rotation.

Apr 16 – 5:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers activated LHP Rich Hill from the 10-day disabled list today and he started against the Diamondbacks. However, he was forced to leave in the fourth inning with a recurrence of his blister issue.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the left-hander head back to the disabled list.

Apr 13 – 12:53 PM (Rotoworld) — Rich Hill (blister) could return to the Dodgers’ rotation on Sunday, April 16, against the Diamondbacks.

Hill will test the blister on his left hand with a 35-pitch bullpen session today before anything is decided for sure. April 16 is the first day he’s eligible to be activated from the 10-day disabled list.

Apr 7 – 1:57 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed LHP Rich Hill on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 6, with a blister on his left middle finger.

Here we go again. Hill is eligible to return from the DL on April 16. There would seem to be a chance he’ll be ready then since manager Dave Roberts referred to the blister as “not a big issue.” However, Hill’s blister issues were an ongoing problem last year and kept him out of action for multiple weeks at a time. In other words, his timetable is up in the air. With Julio Urias still getting stretched out in the minors, Alex Wood will take Hill’s rotation spot.

Scott Kazmir, SP: Apr 2 – 1:00 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed LHP Scott Kazmir on the 10-day disabled list with a hip injury.

Kazmir has had issues all spring getting his lower half loose and it’s led to depressed velocity. His timetable is open-ended.

Mar 27 – 1:09 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Monday that Scott Kazmir (hip) will open the season on the disabled list.

Kazmir again struggled with velocity and effectiveness in his return to Cactus League play yesterday versus the Rangers, yielding three earned runs on five walks and three hits over just three innings. “It’s something with the hip,” Roberts told the media on Monday morning. There is no timetable for Kazmir’s 2017 debut.

Mar 26 – 7:23 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after today’s Cactus League game that Scott Kazmir (hip) will not open the season in the starting rotation.

Kazmir struggled again in Sunday’s start against the Rangers and continues to show severely diminished fastball velocity. The veteran southpaw admitted after the start that he’s still bothered by his hip issue and doesn’t feel like he has his lower half. Expect him to begin the season on the disabled list.

Brock Stewart, SP. RP: Apr 2 – 1:02 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed RHP Brock Stewart on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis.

It’s unclear at this point how long the RHP will be sidelined.

Mar 12 – 12:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Brock Stewart will be shut down for the next week due to tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Stewart has been pounded for seven runs over two appearances this spring but it sounds like he hasn’t been right physically. He’ll have to re-start his throwing program from square one and is not expected to be ready to start by early April.

Grant Dayton, RP: Apr 18 – 8:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed LHP Grant Dayton on the 10-day disabled list with an intercostal strain.

Dayton apparently suffered the injury while throwing a scoreless inning yesterday against the Diamondbacks. He had allowed just two hits (and zero runs) through 6 1/3 innings this season. It’s a big blow for the Los Angeles bullpen. This is usually a 3-4 week injury.

Josh Ravin, RP: Apr 2 – 1:03 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers placed RHP Josh Ravin on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin strain.

Ravin will miss most, if not all, of April with the injury.

Mar 24 – 7:52 PM (Rotoworld) — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said today that Josh Ravin aggravated his right groin strain and will be sidelined for the next several weeks.

He had been a candidate to win one of the final spots in the club’s Opening Day bullpen but, instead, he’ll now open the year on the 10-day disabled list.

Mar 17 – 9:51 PM (Rotoworld) — Josh Ravin (groin) hopes to return to the mound on Sunday, March 19.

Ravin hasn’t pitched since March 13 due to tightness in his groin. He’s battling for one of the final spots in the Dodgers’ Opening Day bullpen.
